Chelsea signing Danny Welbeck is weird.

Doesn't fit with the "vault of players with resale value" strategy. Nor does Henderson, if that turns to reality.

True.. but that strategy hasn’t fit with ‘being good’ so it makes sense they want to try a variation. This is one that doesn’t cost too much and doesn’t bring in people who will spend too much time getting in the way of the players they mostly want to focus on.

I did similar in Champ Man all the time. Never signed players aged 25-32, but 33+ was fine if there squad needed it.

Us, Leeds and Everton all after Delap apparently.

Let's not overlook the positives here. It's cost chelski a lot of money, and reduced performance against spend, for their owners to find out something blindingly fucking obvious.

Let's hope they continue this trend in other areas.

Joe Gardner (I think the only academy graduate to make a debut under Nuno) has joined Falkirk.

It seems like we’ve missed out on Read.

Roma have had an offer accepted whilst we were pissing about.

Hopefully not a sign of the summer activity after last year.

We need to get a move on, as I was saying last year.

Amen brother. I think it makes a big difference to the first month or two of your season.

Obviously would be better if we had signings in place for the pre season camp but we should have a price we are prepared to pay and, if it's not accepted, move on.

Lots of the stuff that's in the press, though, is just part of the dance. ("We've got other offers, if you won't pay our price", "well we're moving onto other options, if you don't accept our offer".)

Don't think Read would be a crucial signing for this season. Only 42 games in the Dutch top league which we all know is not Premier League standard. £25m seems a lot. Surely there must be better value in the EFL? Djed didn't turn out too badly.

I don't think Roma have even bid for Read. I think it's posturing . Also we have signed Diomande. He will be announced very soon.

The young lad Sa apparently plays like Gibbs White. Sent to Greece to play in the Champions league. if he does well, he plays for Forest. Signed a five year contract. Loaned out. Apparently a lot of people think this is a very smart deal. Looks like Ferreira may have finally earned his money...

Chicago: Staying away from the gossup.

Went on the web to see what I could find out about his physical attributes and style of play.

What I found was some stats. Nothing on whether McAtee could snap him like he is a twig.

This sounds like the summer of 2025……

    Let’s hope this ends better.

There's an unsubstantiated rumour of Murillo to Chelsea.

They'd have to get past Marinakis first...and at the very least that's a long way round.
