They'd have to get past Marinakis first...and at the very least that's a long way round.

Is there a player Chelsea haven't been linked with this close season?
I checked back and last summer 5 of our 8 outfield signings weren’t in time for the first game. My guess is that Diamande will be announced in the next day or so but they are holding off until he doesn’t play tomorrow night, full back in the next week or so. Probably Bergvall (or alternative) and striker go much later.
Advantage we have this season is the lack of midweek games, so easier to get new players up to speed in flight.
I also remember our manager going mardy because we were so slow in the market, downing tools and us ending up with fucking Ange a few games in.
Hopefully Diomonde is done soon but there were reports today suggesting we were £2m short of what they want (albeit not from the usual good sources).
Guimaraes to Arsenal for £70M sounds like it's a done deal, and a bit of a steal (relatively speaking).
Yeah that's a decent price in the market.
Wtf is going on at Newcastle. Didn't the Saudi's pull out of lots of sport sponsorship lately, despite insisting they were committed to Newcastle still? Got to wonder if this is the start of their exit.
I see their fans online saying it's PSR compliance that is killing them.
But that can't be right can it, they've not spent that much relative to income and transfers out. Not sure what it is, big players don't want to live up in Newcastle!
It’s not PSR killing them, but it is stopping the spending/sportwashing they wanted/were promised/demanded to make them the biggest team in the world, a team worthy of the “best fans in the world”.
Agreed but they seem to conflate not being allowed to spend whatever they want with being forced to sell multiple players for big money.

'But what have the Romans done for us?'
Hey - Thiaw is good.
So are Wissa and Elanga, it just turns Eddie Howe is shit. Optimal outcome for me is Lampard to England and then Howe can go to Coventry.
I'd prefer Howe for England myself. He has a much larger body of work behind him than Lampard.
If I was choosing a manager for club football, I'd choose Howe. If I was choosing a manager for International football, I'd choose Lampard.
If I was choosing a manager for club football, I'd choose Guardiola (attributes-a-like). If I was choosing a manager for International football, I'd choose Allardyce (attributes-a-like).
Impressive to insult Guardiola, Allerdyce, Lampard and Howe in two paragraphs.
I wasn't suggesting any of them are rubbish. I'm pointing out that Newcastle have been perfectly able to spend a lot of money.
'Who have the Saudis bought for us?'

'Well, APART from that...'
