We stayed in a lovely house in Cornwall in the summer. I wasn’t put off by the review I’d read before booking which highlighted it didn’t have a garlic press.

What sort of fucking idiot can't improvise with the back of a spoon?
Anyway, what's this about a garlic press?
Yeah, the lack of a garlic press really pissed me off.
I also thought you are on holiday. Why the fuck would you be pressing garlic.
If you cant use a knife to get garlic how you need, you should think about your life choices.
We have a garlic press. It's quite good. But we've started using quick garlic instead.
We don't have a garlic press in our house (as far as I am aware). It's why we go away so we can experience such luxury items
Except to Cornwall obviously
I for one am looking forward to Tricky's contribution to this whole garlic press and quick garlic (!) hornet's nest.
Quick garlic, fine as a backup. Garlic press, there's something wrong with you if you use one.
Happy to help.
Tricky is half correct. A knife is the only way to prepare garlic.
Jarlic is never acceptable.
Quick garlic is shit. Place your cleaver flat edge over the garlic and give it some welly.
It's better than powdered garlic if you don't have any fresh. Mind you, I always have fresh, and don't have a jar of easy garlic.
I was being nice.
I'll grant you jarlic > powder. But there's really no reason excuse for either.
Having said that. Minced ginger, in a jar I do use. Also minced garlic, ginger, and chilli, as a starting base for spiced dishes, benefits from some time melding together. Fresh not a particular requirement here (though I always did make from fresh, and jar, when I used it regularly). Shop bought minced garlic and ginger I have used in this context.
Ginger is a bit fucking awkward to prep and use regularly... And keep fresh.
Garlic powder is right for dry rubs
