I was a few miles in, so quite possibly.

Feeling a little hoarse, were you?

If he was a few miles in he must have been feeling a big horse.

Just been to a new optician because my old one was being useless. I've worn contacts for close on 30 years, but recently my close vision has started being problematic so she has me trialing multifocal lenses. I've only been wearing them an hour and they're already a massive improvement over my previous ones.

Also, she told me I have beautiful corneas.

The multifocals are good aren't they? Like magic.

Get laser eye surgery. Best money I've ever spent. Bar the playoff final ticket.

I had laser surgery way back. 12 years without glasses was well worth it in every way. I tried multifocals and didn't like them at all for day to day stuff, but now I've got digital multis, which are monitor distance at the top and book/phone close up. Yup, magic.

So far it's a remarkable improvement. The fact that I can both drive and work on my laptop (not at the same time, obviously) without having to wear or remove a pair of glasses for either is a significant life improvement, especially given how often I forget to carry my readers with me. Excited for being able to go on a date and not have to pull out old man glasses to read the menu.

I tried new contacts last year and it was all a bit shit. They (apparently) couldn’t make them thin enough to be comfortable while also getting anywhere near my prescription. So they were either a bit blurry and I needed readers, or they were slightly less blurry and I needed slightly less strong readers. Both incredibly uncomfortable.

Decided to say bollocks to the whole thing as I’ve been wearing glasses so long at this point. To then be told that only certain opticians can make glass lenses strong enough while charging an absolute fortune.

Maybe I should look at the eye surgery route.

But word of warning, if you have lasic, then you still run the high probability of needing reading glasses once you hit your 50’s.

I have bionic eyes thanks to cataract and subsequent surgery for detached retinas, but still need readers for close up. I can just about manage to read a menu without glasses.

Yeah I'm expecting that I might need reading glasses at some point, but the last 7-10 years with perfect eyesight has been absolutely mind blowing to me (as someone who had glasses from the age of 16). Swimming particularly. Plus lack of dry eyes at the end of the day and always having to carry around contact lens solution. I thought I was fine with contacts ... Until I didn't need them. I'm a total convert and preacher to it.

I've worn daily disposables for years. Never get dry eyes, don't need to carry or use lens solution, can happily swim in both fresh and salt water without a problem.

I've been convinced I've had Covid since Wednesday. All the usual suspect symptoms x10.

My personal favourite is the intermittently crushing headache and feeling like John Hurt in Alien with constant throat stripping cough.

Test says TUP, it's not 2020 anymore and you've got a mild sniffle you massive fraud.

It can bollocks. I clearly have the Hentacoronaebolagitis plague.

Famously wasn't really his throat causing the problem.

    Quite.

I feel the hatching could be at any moment.
