I know I'm in the minority, but I'm excited by this. I'd have loved us to have signed him 12 months ago for the European run.

I'd say you're not in the minority from the reaction I've seen so far.

For me, we needed a big signing and he is that. On raw potential he looked great this time last year. He is partly trading on being a great City academy player though, and other than that year at Ipswich where he scored a relatively modest amount in a poor team his senior career is average. He can be forgiven for failing at Chelsea but his injuries and touch last year are a little bit of a worry. I still think there's a chance he turns into Connor Wickham and fades away, but that could be said about any new signing. And his physicality is what we need, he looks like a good fit for pur style and for what Glasner wants to play like. If he works out, there will be a big upside value given England lack of centre forwarda and the hype could build.

Overall, I'm pleased he's joining.

The price is not cheap but it is not out of kilter with what we paid for Omari last year, or what people are paying for shite in 2026.

I don't have especially strong feelings either way. I hope he's good. He might be. Good he might not.

I'm not sure how his value appreciated 50% based on the last 12 months though.

Yes, but we took Anderson from a regular Prem sub to one of the first names on the England team sheet. Chelsea took Delap from second best player on a relegated team to a rarely used sub. Not sure the two are comparable.
