Jesus is very good at one-touch layoffs, flick-ons, cushioned passes with his back to goal, quick combos around the box, if that counts as passing. Not so much the defence-splitting through balls or Kane-like long diagonal passes yet. He reminds me a little bit of Teddy Sheringham.

Jesus essentially played as a 10 with MGW at the end of the last season and it was surprisingly good. Not really a midfielder, more of a striker but not a 9. I think Vibes found his position. I like Igor. i think he and McAtee will be fighting for that place next to Morgan.

Unless we are in for a transfer surprise... IT'S BAGGIO!!!!!!!

    Chicago: Reasonably content.

Hutchinson played those games as well. Changes the balance of the team completely.

MGW was playing out left though and then drifting to find the ball, he wasn't playing with Jesus as a 10 just occasionally occupying the same spaces. It was set up in the same way it had been before only the players playing those positions made it feel a little different because Jesus' movement wasn't typical of a modern day 10 and MGW drifted as mentioned. At least that's how I saw it.

Percy linking us with Delap again this morning.

  • 28 Jul 2026, 9:04 a.m.

Percy and Taylor articles today. Clearly both been told the same thing - four signings - FB (Read?), CB (Diamande), CM (Bergvall?), quick, strong CF (maybe Delap). Aim for a squad of around 20-22 outfield players, which suggests at least 7 out (Richards is a given, Bindon & Abbot loans, Kalimuendo, Savona, Ndoye, Bakwa?)

Bergvali also said to have indicated he’d come here.

Diomande being held up by payment structure but should happen this week.

Had talks with Delap last summer, still interested but will be competition for him.

Glasner had offer from AC Milan but chose here after meetings with Marinakis and assurances over big money to spend.

Again been said McAtee isn’t going anywhere and also he’s the best golfer off a 4 handicap.

  • 28 Jul 2026, 10:01 a.m.

I think we'll keep Kali (goals) and Bakwa (more attacking wing-back option), with Ndoye and Sav going back to Italy.
Big T and Morato maybe out.

...perhaps we should sponsor him on the tour, and get a ROI?

  • 28 Jul 2026, 10:06 a.m.

I'm deeply unenthusiastic about the idea of Delap, he seems like an absolute tool.

  • 28 Jul 2026, 10:18 a.m.

Ndoye looked good enough at the WC for us to get the bulk of our money back. And at the same time showed why he wasn’t good enough for us. But I’ve read somewhere he’ll be staying.

  • 28 Jul 2026, 10:21 a.m.

Ndoye is in the 'might still acclimatise to the level' for me. Has the required physical attributes, I like his movement, I just need him to come out with the ball sometimes.

  • 28 Jul 2026, 10:22 a.m.

He hasnt capitalised on his potential and the "tool" factor certainly is a worry.
But is he the kind of player that Glasner could develop?

  • 28 Jul 2026, 10:33 a.m.

Big T is the elephant in the room here. He has all of the skillset...apart from the kicking bits. If he can stretch defences, rough up centre-halves, and get in the positions so that he can bundle a reasonable number in off his shin or arse, he's no worse than (say) a Mateta.

  • 28 Jul 2026, 10:34 a.m.

My concern with Delap is that apart from his 12 goals in 40 appearances at Ipswich, his goal record, even in the Championship, is poor, his injuries are a worry, and he looks like he lost his head at Chelsea. I wouldn't completely write him off and if he can get it together and realise even part of the hype he has high upside potential in terms of increasing value because he is English and a centre forward and we don't have many good ones of them coming through. But he could be the new Connor Wickham, Francis Jeffers etc who completely fades away and ends up in the lower leagues when his hype is fully spent.

Mateta would be a lot better. He is more ready made and can do more stuff that Chris Wood does. Delap is more like Igor Jesus.
