I love Stevie Cooper and nothing will change that but I just think at the time we were the perfect club for him and he was the perfect manager for us and it was just magic. Trying to transplant that effect to Derby isn’t going to work (even if he’d take it, which seems highly unlikely.)
Reminds me of the time I was staying in a golf hotel not far from Derby. I spotted Mick McCarthy in the corridor and followed him into a room where he was about to brief the Ipswich players ahead of their match against Derby the next day. I asked him to make sure they twatted the sheep shaggers. Got stared at and left pretty quickly. I was pissed at the time.
I reckon the Rogers / Garner 'coming together' would've been a yellow card each had Rogers not already been booked. So the ref - rightly or wrongly not wanting to cross the red threshold - left it.
Sentences I never expected to type presents 'we're all Stoke and Doncaster today, aren't we?'
Well, I am. Got to do something with Forest and Leicester Tigers playing tomorrow and Bayern's latest defensive clown show not kicking off until 5.30.
