I'd certainly rather him than £65m Jackson (who could well have seena straight red in the first half).

    Some stats from today:

    Distance covered:
    Delap 10.5km
    Jackson 5km

    Distance running:
    Delap 1.61km
    Jackson 0.49km

    Sprints:
    Delap 15
    Jackson 8

    Defensive contributions:
    Delap 2
    Jackson 0

I could have moved around more than Jackson did. Glad we got the one we got.

Seems like you didn't watch today. Did you watch the Liverpool game? Two really decent performances. Add to that we should have drawn with Leeds on the opening day and could have beaten Spurs.

    Things are fine.

Don’t disagree. But you are comparing Delaps 90mins bs Jackson’s 45…

I was out for a much needed run so missed a lot. Delighted with the win and nearly as delighted with the early thread comments of both Russ and Tricky.

So are we adopting NOT match threads going forward?

This. We've matched or bettered Liverpool, Spurs and Villa, with a team which is learning a completely new way of playing, and having lost a £100m+ centre midfielder (and replaced him with a free transfer and/a winger who looked waiflike and struggled last season but has seemingly been transformed into a tenacious deep-sitting playmaker). It's a good start reflecting some genuinely imaginative management and it could even be looking like a great one in one or two games time if we maintain the trajectory.

Incidentally, 5 yellows today. Was that a ref thing or are we a bit more kicky under Glasner?

Bit of a mix. Referee was shit. But Villa realised that and dived all over the place.

Why do they have ten men?

Maatsen got kicked out of the game ... by McAtee.

Apparently should have been sent off, according to Emery.

    Normal midfield tackle.

    Game's gone.

Glasner said in his post-match said that Milenkovic likely won't be fit to play against Coventry next weekend. Cunha more likely but not guaranteed.

What a second half performance. That Delap goal was a bit SVC wasn't it?

I haven't seen the game yet but I hate any comparison to Stan. No one is or ever will be Stan. That said, I have seen a couple of comparisons to Drogba. I can live with that.

That's all very well, but the closest style/attribute comparison is SVC.
