Agreed .... though I think I might like to see Sangare given a go instead of Schlager, and Diomande/Milenkovic/Murillo as a back three to try and make a bit more solid at the back.
This. Although, I do think that increasingly Morgan's going to be thinking 'fuck this shit', especially when he's fresh back from chatting across the water cooler with his England colleagues for a few weeks (and seeing Anderson counting his cash post-Forest). I'd imagine MGW's agent has been instructed to earn his coin over the coming weeks ahead of January.
I'm my head, I thought we had him for one last season but I'm now more sure he'll go in the next window.
I've seen some talk online that Syrianos gave an interview or something last week where he said that the club was behind Glasner for the long haul and there was no question of his position being under any question soon.
Now, obviously, Syrianos isn't the main decision maker, and there's an element of "of course he'd say that" but has anyone seen the source?
There was a fan engagement meeting towards the end of last week. About 30 people there from various groups. Forest Focus are doing a podcast episode on it today I believe. 'danscape' came to the pub with me and a few others yesterday and told us about it.
I think Benitez pulled a worldie, which goalkeepers do from time to time. Sometimes it's yours and you love it, other times it's not and it's frustrating. If we won the game yesterday, I guarantee nobody would be banging on about the Delap miss. We are because it was a critical point of a match we went on to lose.
If Delap had tried to pass it into the corner and missed, everyone would have been screaming at him demanding to know, from that close in, why he didn't simply smash it. Nine times out of 10 he scores there and the keeper doesn't sniff it - if we'd been further clear of Palace at the time, nobody gives a shit.
Even if the shot hits the keeper, most times it still goes in. I believe Glasner said afterwards that Delap wasn't at fault and that blasting it was just how he always liked to finish.
That's fine. Maybe don't smash it straight at the keeper? Either somewhere else, or give him time to get out of the way?
People miss, I'm not down on Delap for that. It was unfortunate that it might well have been pivotal (despite some people thinking that 2-0 is the most dangerous scoreline - that's complete bollocks...it means you can concede one and still win without having to score another...which is better than other things).
...but the real problem was conceding consecutive goals from that point.
Same. I thought we'd been pretty solid defensively until yesterday. I worry that the midfield (as outlined above) isn't strong enough without Sangare (or Ando) but on the whole, I don't have an issue with the defence. Surprised to see people already slating Diomande on here and elsewhere, and it looks like a Murillo backlash is starting, possibly because he had a new haircut.
...and then one day, he cut his hair and we stopped loving him...
I think the body shape changes are taking Murillo a bit of time to get used to. As non-intuitive as it sounds, you play in a different way with more or less heft (and power in the thighs). where before your broad mass blocked an opponent, now they can roll you, that sort of thing.
The underlying attributes are still good...and as long as he hasn't knocked off, he will come back strong.
Equally baffling was the Chris Wood miss at 3-1 down. A nailed on chance for an experienced international forward but he heads it straight as the keeper.
