Guess the club is obliged to go along with whatever their consultants and insurers tell them is necessary or they are being negligent.
Not much they can do about drone attacks and until someone somewhere blows themselves up in a queue, noone will do anything about that risk. Because that's the way it works.
Incidentally, in the summer when everyone is dressed in shorts and t shirts, and we're not allowed reasonably sized bags, what the fuck were they checking for? A suicide vest would be pretty fucking obvious in those conditions.

Carrying enough of a payload by drone (except a military style drone), to make a substantial impact, is not trivial.
Hopefully someone would notice if a V2 was being assembled in a garage in Arnold, or high tech military hardware imported.
Security measures are rarely actually for security. They are more likely to be for public confidence and insurance purposes.

Also if you are driving in the US and want to avoid drones but not roundabouts just go to Buffalo. They have a big honking one in downtown (roundabout not drone) and it's a little confusing to navidate as there are no arrows on the ground/road to tell you which direction to go..
