I'd be fucking appalled if a player played 90 minutes all and every game and didn't at least make the odd pass. Let's not forget that since we've got past Moldova, the last two games have involved no reading the game, no gambling, not even trundling movement to open a space for someone else. It's just largely involved being too slow in midfield, and nowhere near the attack.

For the player your team is built around, that's shit. Phil Foden could have done all of it, and more.

Once again I've just found myself thinking 'just get to the hydration break'.
I need to punch myself in the face. With wine.

Note the England fans in the stadium didn't boo the second half hydration break. Which is just further proof everyone knows it matters, as does a 30 minute half time.

Perhaps they all went for a piss. Like I did.
Ooh, did I just hear 'Montiel comes on'?
    Our ex Montiel?

What is interesting about this England team is it has quality but it's flawed quality. We have the electric grandma on the wing who can win space with his speed and running, but 7/10 times his feet aren't quite enough to do anything with it. We have Stones who has a mistake in him, but is capable of world class defending. There's James who is classy unless his brittle hamstrings aren't snapping. Pickford capable of brilliance of the type we just saw but idiocy as we saw in the Norway game. And then of course there's Djed Spence. It's a hard watch and a motley crew, but it's quite fun.

Once again, things I didn't expect to say presents - 'I think it's time to get Burn on'.

Yes, that one. Penalty specialist? Seems a bit optimistic, but he's looking pretty good...

Phil Foden wouldn't have won the DR Congo game on his own (and I say that as someone who would have taken Phil Foden).

We have two players in this squad who are arguably in the top 6 in the world, one of them is justified favourite for the Ballon d'or. There's a reason for that. He's not your blood and thunder Alan Shearer centre forward, but he's a more sophisticated player and he is the better player. The world fears him. They don't fear Olie Watkins, Ivan Toney or Phil Foden. The world isn't mad.

Argentina, great at crossing, shit at heading.

I'm now in the surprised category that Tuchel - a normally pragmatic manager - hasn't got Burn on. We are looking susceptible to headers.

Reece James hamstrings have lasted longer than I thought. Though he's mainly protected them by being shit.
