He did very well and was what we needed.

Still buzzing from that game despite the short nap I’ve just had.

Not convinced I’ll be buzzing in a few hours whilst at work.

    "it's ok" I said.

"I do this all the time for the hockey" I said .

""I'll go to bed now at 20:00 and set the alarm" I said.

"Beep beep bi beep, Beep beep bi beep " It went.

    "Right I'm up" I said.

    "Kick off delayed" They said

    "Fuck that." I said

"It'll be shit anyway" I said....

    Yup. I'm happily wrong.

Thanks for this. Got up at 5:30 and enjoyed the game sensibley. I even hit the fast forward button from 83 minutes because I could. A very pleasant start to the week.

I'd have done it like Shady five years ago. But I'm no longer an idiot.

No need for help, you've got this.

Pretty happy that watching it unspoiled at 6 was the way to go.

Did spend a bit of time trying not to think about whether 4h48 meant extra time or pens but the hour delay created enough doubt that I was still unsure going into the injury time.

I had 5 and half, and no beer so don’t feel too bad currently. That would have been an epic nights sleep a few years when the twins kept me awake for over 12 months.

Anyway, if you recorded that and watched when you woke up you are a massive fanny and not a true fan. FACT.

What if you slept through it, didn't watch it again, and had a quick look at some highlights rthis morning?

    Some highlight takeaways:

Kane did some strikery things. For the two Bellingham goals he was pointing upfield. The first making a near post run (of the slightly lumbering sort, but still) to clear out the space behind for Billingham to arrive, the second on the shoulder of the outside defender, taking it round and a good slip ball into the line of the six yard box. The sort of thing I want to see from a striker. Back giving the penalty away not so much - his feet are too slow for him to be trusted back there.
Guéhi looked terrible defending crosses...all at sea. Quansah terrible challenge for the sending off - like a centre half not getting there as a right back.
Engalnd largely bummed in overall play (perhaps understandably given the altitude), but tremendous football played defending - an entirely legitimate part of 'good football' in my view.
    Bellingham:

Jordan Henderson booked and injured without even playing - that's proper commitment.

  • 6 Jul 2026, 9:31 a.m.

Just seen the clip online. Looks like a nasty break of his arm - tried to vault the advertising hoarding, slipped and landed awkwardly.

Morgan would have made it over fine - just saying, like.

Got to praise Gordon once more. Superb defensive performance. And did proper wide player stuff when given a chance.

  • 6 Jul 2026, 10:04 a.m.

I had him as MoTM. Partly because it was a surprise how well he played.

Had to switch to radio on 75mins when it was live, and just now caught up on the TV action I missed. Admirable, mature, defending -- and equally mature interviews afterwards. Haven't been properly impressed by ENG like this since Columbia in 2018. I reckon NOR will be a right 'ol proper Premier League type match.

oh, and since this seems to matter: I've had about 2.5 hours sleep (inadvertently slumped in my chair at work) since 19:30 BST Saturday -- quite independent of the fact that the match actually kicked off 11:00am Monday morning my time. Hopefully Ill get to bed in the next 6-8 hours... though there is another match to watch coming up soon enough

The best moment was when he threw himself in the direction of the attempted overhead kick, the ball clanged off his forehead and travelled from about the edge of the box to 10 yards inside the Mexico half.

Anyway, has Trump overturned the red card yet? Hopefully he will confuse Quansah with the FBI HQ. Especially when he finds out Quansah helped build a wall to keep out the Mexicans.

I'm a massive fanny! Had to be up at 7am to get the boy to school, so watched on the BBC2 replay, no half time and fwd through the hydration breaks was good. I'd turned notifications off and had no idea of the result while watching, but still couldn't get as excited/anxious as watching live for some reason.

Bonkers game though, Not a fan of Tuchel but het got that spot on after the Red card.
