Is there a chance that a half hour (40 minute) break means the players are at a greater risk of getting injured? Because it's not the level of exertion they are usually training for. I'm sure there are experts advising on how to handle it but still.

At 15 minutes you are not going to have to warm up again. At thirty minutes you might, with the possible increased incidence of cramps and pulls. I supposed they could go outside and jog around the stadium a couple of times?

I expect they’ll be on static bikes. But it still moves away from the “normal” pattern they train for.

Training on bikes also has a level of hazard for running. It's a different action, shortens the muscle extension, and can lead to pulls (at the highest sprint fitness levels). At least that's what a friend who ran on the london sprint relay team with John Regis told me. They weren't allowed on bikes for this reason.

And, of course, england/spain/Argentina will have fitness guys who can figure out the best approach but it doesn't seem like FIFA have even decided how long half time will be.

It's clearly not optimising for the quality of the game.

Oh fuck the fuck off fucking Infantino. One of the many reasons he will rot in hell. And if hell doesn't exist, I'll create a facsimile of it, develop human cloning, clone the cunt and stick him in psudo hell to rot repeatedly until the end of time.
    Cunt.

    Good rant. Enjoyed that.

It stops being a match and becomes a show. Football progresses but at its core is perfectly formed. The septics should be barred from football, they don't have the instincts.

Listen.. if this ‘soccer’ thing is going to be popular outside of its current niche market, it needs to be more like PROPER football.

I'm not sure what calendar I used for talkdash (I suspect the official EPL one - I vaguely remember having to register for it). I do know that it appears to have populated the fixtures, and I can't see any shirt ads.

    ---edit---

..must be bollox though, as we only appear to have saturday fixtures until november.

Liverpool Victoria home insurance. Again, I impore you, never take out a policy with these clowns.

Unless you enjoy taking your monthly premium with a heavy slice of ballache and stress - for four years. Honestly, when all this is over, I'm not sure a lie-down exists in nature that is long enough.
