Tbf, Bergkamp brought an awful lot more than just goals. I love Woody but he doesn't have a lot of additional strings to his bow.

Of course, the comparison was purely one on goals as I was trying to illustrate (perhaps clumsily) that Wood's recent success with us isn't the first time he's been that kind of player.
I may have misread Mangetout's original post, but my interpretation was the suggestion that this past 12 months has come completely out of the blue in terms of his career. Burnley were punching massively above their weight for a few seasons in the Premier League and Wood scoring nearly 50 times in that period is impressive from where I sit.
He was excellent for Burnley, and I've been a cheerleader for him throughout his career.
But he has never been on a streak like this for this long. It's not like we are creating twice as many chances for him as Burnley did, because we don't create that many chances, he just converts a ridiculous number of them.
"Who gave Bobby De Cordova Reid a 3-year contract?" !
"Bring back SSC"
"Stop going bust to avoid tax bills"
"Pay for the stadium"
"Let's sack this off and watch Tigers"
If I had a spare 500 quid I'd be tempted to hire one as well, park it round tbe corner and display a montage of Top and his board while blasting out KWS.
This could also go into The What's annoying me today too or even Big Life thread, but after spending an utter fortune on dinner last night we both got home late and my wife looked at me and said, "I am going to put my Jammy's on and watch the Real Housewives". I looked at her thinking she was joking and when I realised that she wasn't.... I just went to bed. 28 years of marriage... shheeeesh.
I mean, how romantic was that.
Chicago: Feeling special.
Yeah, that's at least in part how I ended up starting the Big Life thread.
So much to enjoy here: www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/01/24/leicester-turmoil-van-nistelrooy-fights-drift-relegation/
Including:
It is understood that Van Nistelrooy turned on Okoli, a £13 million summer signing from Atalanta, over his choice of football boots and insisted they made him frequently slip over. Okoli was so stunned by the confrontation that he demanded a meeting with Rudkin and now appears certain to leave before the window closes.
Archive PH seems to be struggling today. Any other snippets?
Yeah I found that yesterday too.
These Sir Alex graduates don't really seem to be getting on at management.
I viewed it by stopping the browser before the paywall. It's just the general tone, plenty of it is unremarkable - two players live 90 miles away, someone who's not a regular got a payrise from 70k to 100k when they got promoted, Danny Ward asked to come off at half time (I think). Percy just seems generally pissed off that they are going to make him watch them in the championship again next season. Does highlight that no-one from the board has done any interviews since 2016, which does, maybe, show the benefit of keeping journalists onside.
Seems to be okay now:
