Again. I feel like you are missing the point. I don't have any faith in the sort of politicians other people keep electing. I also think football is going badly (to my taste), and you are not suggesting anything that could do better.

I believe that national assets should be controlled or regulated by governance accountable to the people. I can't make you vote the right way, and make them do their job. I accept the right of our society to elect the wrong sort, and not hold them responsible. That doesn't undermine the principle (ultimately letting them fuck up our stuff is our choice), and unless I'm overlooking some obscure point you are doing nothing to square the circle of your proposition that contains no guarantees beyond a belief in words and some sort of immunity to corruption invested in an unknown thing for no particular reason.

Note. The thing that we currently have has fucked us, and we've paid royally for the privilege.

I'm intrigued as to what actions they are actually going to take. Remove Chansiri from Wednesday or Youngge from Reading? Assume that's not in their power. Are they going to stop future buyers of clubs that they don't like? Good luck with that.

But, at least if Marinakis decided we were going to play in blue, they could stop that. What colour are Cardiff playing in nowadays?

@chicago I know you've got a lot on mate but come on:

Russ spends a whole day at the national bumming festival and the day after 20 hours of constant bumming he is only capable of crawling from his bed to his sofa because either a) his bum hurts so much or b) he's worried he'll get bummed again.

    And now:
Jim has been selected as the token gay on a hen do. As long as he keeps his catty comments, "whoopsie daises" and stereotypical limp wristed gestures on point he's got to be in with a very real shout of making bridesmaid.

If you aren't going to call a gay week then I think it could throw your whole predication game off balance ahead of our most promising season in 30 years.

NOW I AM CALLING IT! AFTER TODAY'S NEWS I FEEL LIKE US FANS HAVE BEEN BUMMED HARD UP THE ARSE!

    TIME FOR GAY WEEK!!!!!

    Ingo over to you.

    Chicago: Feeling sore.

I have a new ambition, namely to one day be accused of being "the progenitor of [a] whole tawdry episode of poseurs, 30 pieces of silver,...... manque and avarice".

There was another of these on the socials with the same picture and a caption about Steve Parish forgetting to read his emails.

Hannah Hampton's done an interview on TalkSport where she revealed that during the penalty shootout win against Spain in the Euros final she noticed her counterpart had a Brice Samba-style water bottle at the side of the goal with England names on it.

After the first round of kicks, Hampton took the Spanish keeper's bottle from out of the towel and tossed it into the England fans behind the goal. She then replaced it with her own.

"It was an obvious thing to do," she said. "That's why I write the names on my arm."

Yes...but it amuses me that keepers can't remember what each player is likely to do penalty habit wise. I suspect it's more about building a process, removing doubt, and the resulting psychological reinforcement for the goalkeeper, than actual important knowledge per se.

The commentator in this blunts untied match commented that the bristols titty expected goals was half that of the untieds, and yet they were somehow 3-1 up. "Extraordinary". What's amusing is that there's nothing extraordinary if the 'expected goals' stat doesn't actually take into account the range of things that make goals happen.

    Which it obviously doesn't.

There's been a move to get these stats high, in modern football. Which was great for us last season, because we could blow the stupid stats apart not playing into how they measure, against a bunch of dumb teams doing the wrong things.

Sure. But ultimately if xG doesn't truly reflect the likelihood of goals being scored (it doesn't), what's the fucking point of it?

It's an assessment of the quality of the positions a team is shooting from. In one game it's a sideshow, over a longer period it has value.

Chris Wood massively outperformed his xG last season. He's a good finisher, who had the season of his life. xG confirms what we all could say anyway. But if someone we weren't watching every week had a similar season, it would indicate they were worth having a good look at.
