Agreed. Mrs BW's aunt does this and I'm sure she once remarked that it 'stops limescale building up'.
I'm far from convinced this has any scientific merit and, since having our smart meter installed recently (which leaps up every time you turn on the kettle), feel sure it's a false economy.

A utility company had been billing us the wrong meter at the wrong address for 18 months. Following several emails they appear to have credited 18 months in exchange for a one off £40 admin fee.
