I suspect we are going to continue playing this formation. So it will be a bit dull if you are going to continue to criticise. You may even start boring yourself…

I suspect you may be right on all counts. But perhaps if you actually read what I write instead of just assuming that I'm criticizing the formation then you might find it happening a little less often than you think.

Lots of positives, but on balance the correct result. Both teams will be disappointed for different reasons.

Well done Forest. Pity we used the small flush rather than the big one.
Managed the space between the back 3 and the midfield 2 much better second half, but there's still work to be done with the awareness of the back 3 with regards to inside channel runners. Particularly between the LCB and LWB.

McCoist - just before full time - 'all the best players have been Forest ones'.
    Immediate post match interview? Isak.

So are we playing the system better now? Or is it just Leeds are better than Liverpool?

Much more optimistic about the season after that. I know we won at Anfield for the last two years, but this felt a better performance oddly.

I think more the former than the latter. I’m wondering when/if Diomande will get a regular start.

Stats are vaguely interesting. Liverpool dominated possession (2x ours) and pass completion (3x ours), but we shaded them on the stats that relate to actual danger - touches in the box, corners, xG (yeah I know). Shots and SOG pretty much the same. Still playing direct football, but I think attempting to do so on the front foot more than we have for some time.

Agree with that. Thought that it was an excellent (entertaining, and quality) game of football that we had an equal share of. If we had won it, it would have been merited (rather than a smash and grab), and overall a draw was a fair result.

We move on, but that will have given us a lot of confidence.

Apparently Leeds dominated Palace last year, maybe they and/or Farke just match up well against the way Glasner plays.

Is there a world in which he replaces Milenkovic? Give him a man to mark and he's fine. Give him space to cover and...he's less fine. And I'm not sure he's quick enough to get across to wherever the space is. 1st half Poo broke down our right. I can't remember if it was Cunha or Williams who tracked and tackled but Milenkovic was on halfway looking like he was waiting for a taxi to the penalty area.

4 goals, so a Fibonacci of sorts. Ahem.
It's probably a good thing we didn't win at A field 3 times in a row as that would've meant keeping Liverpoo and I'm not sure what we'd have done with them or how we'd get them back to Nottingham.

...I think in a three it's okay to have one lamppost-like, but you probably want two either side who can go out to the wide positions, or play on the turn and track a run.

Your lamppost is rarely going to catch chickens running back (or he'd be playing for someone else)...so over the ground the wider two come into play when you are playing high, but your lamppost (hopefully) dominates the central area of the box aerially, and reduces the impact of crosses not cut out by (missing) wing backs.
