The Premier League's Key Match Incidents Panel reviewed the Nico Williams penalty at Liverpool and voted 3:2 that it was an incorrect decision to award the penalty, but 5:0 that VAR was correct not to advise the ref to review it as it was not a clear and obvious error.

It did look soft to me. I couldn't clearly see where he trips Neco.

Babelfish says: "The panel confirmed, by split decision, that the referee was wrong to award a penalty - but re-iterated unanimously that VAR isn't there to get the decisions right".

No, the panel confirmed that the decision was completely subjective given the 5 of them couldn't agree even with the benefit of multiple replays and as much time as they wanted to examine them, therefore VAR getting involved would have created no greater clarity and it was correct to let the referee's subjective decision stand rather than suggest he review it.
