A question is are we stronger or weaker than this time last year factoring in the squad and the managerial change, chaos/edu issues and harmony.

Well I don't think that went entirely to plan. Post Liverpool Glasner said he expected another 2-3 signings and we didn't make any. I presume he thought that Henderson and Armstrong were both very likely. It's really annoying Everton had a game the day it was leaked, if they hadn't done (and hadn't been chanting about it), I think the deal would have gone through.

Munoz was one of the three.

And had you ever heard of Armstrong before Ornstein reported? Hard to get annoyed about someone I've never heard of or seen play.

And didn't Glasner day something like one definite one possible and one maybe.

He also said weeks ago he expected 4 signings, and has repeatedly said he's happy with our midfield and we had too many players. I am sure our more restrained approach is down to him, and he seems very happy (and is not one to toe the party line). Apart from not getting Bergvall, who was our number 1 target and not speculative like Armstrong, it looks like it went entirely to plan.

For what it's worth, the athletic does a thing where they rate all the premier league inbound transfers of the window and then revisit during the season. At the moment, they have Delap 150 (out of 154), Benda 147, Munoz 82, Diomande 29 and Schlager 18 (Anderson 4th).

Can't link it but the telegraph rates our transfer window as second best in the premier league, behind Brentford. Which feels a bit generous.

That seems insane. What was their rationale? was it driven by selling Elliot? Or pruning our squad in a financially /reasonable way with loans and sales? Or that we held on to a few key players? I can’t believe Diomande, Munoz, Schlager, Delap and Benda are eye catching enough?

Not sure how happy I feel overall…slight frustration that Sangare#2 and Camara were identified as replacements for Anderson. We chased others and were unsuccessful.

Settled teams are preferable to upheaval, imho. Tweaking rather than reupholstering.
I didn't expect a wing back of Muñoz's quality, but was hoping for a dynamic centre mid, and possibly a goalie. Very happy with Delap.
Overall, I'm content, but reserve the right to change my mind about everything when we are 18th on November.

Previously accused of a scattergun approach, Forest went for quality over quantity during this window after also making an £81m profit on Elliot Anderson in the sale to Manchester City. Liam Delap has been a previous target and they finally got their striker and Daniel Muñoz, while now 30, ticks data boxes with his running at Crystal Palace in the last three seasons. It seems a fairly sensible transfer window and it looks like the signings made will be decent. And they have done well to ship out the fringe players for the smaller squad, made possible without Europe.

I like that Glasner thinks he can get McAtee to play the deep lying role and it’s very sensible to attempt to make use of an obvious talent. Early signs look promising.

I’m also glad Newcastle turned down the money for Murphy, maybe it could go towards the new bridge that seems to be needed over the Trent.

Depends how good the team was in the first place...
