But I think that when you're at the elite level of sport, being paid to not get to do the thing you've spent your entirely life excelling at is probably quite frustrating.

Yeah, I assume that’s the case for most… but definitely not all. There are plenty of people who are elite in their field but still mostly doing it because it’s their best way to earn a living. Including footballers… some of whom have been pretty open about that. Hell.. Gareth Bale got to being the elite of the elite and openly gave no fucks about whether he was getting games.

Scott Carson could have gone and played regularly somewhere else, but chose not to do so. We’ll see how frustrated Angus Gunn was about getting exactly what he signed up for at Forest if he decides to sign up for exactly same at ManYoo.

There was definitely some chat that Gunn had been told he was coming here to be number 2 and was pissed off to be third, but maybe that was for the benefit of the Scottish media.

Obviously being third choice at man u is more lucrative than here.

He was hoping to get in the World Cup squad and must have been hugely frustrated at being 4th choice, effectively.
Thankfully for him, Scotland aren't blessed in the goalkeeping department.

Only just turned 30, so seems a bit soon to take the Scott Carson approach (he played 30 games in 2018/19 when he was 33).

520 Anderson’s is a lot of money. Let’s hope we spend it wisely.

    Romano saying £116m.

Also, saying "Nottingham Forest agree deal to sign Boyd Fraser after agreement reached with Hearts.

Fraser will join on training compensation until summer of 2029. Medical passed and all agreed with #NFFC."

I believe Ornstein over Romano. Also, I have seen it mentioned elsewhere that it's 115M in cash up front with 15M in add-ons - if so then that's a marvelous troll.

You would be hard pressed to read this article and conclude that Anderson did anything at Forest. The lazy Newcastle PSR trope, his stats are laid out but no context given.

In fairness it's hard to make much of an argument that he's progressed because of us, we've largely just been the beneficiaries of a journey he was going on anywhere. He had a season of Nuno and then the disasterclass of last season, I don't think we get much credit for his rise other than someone being smart enough to make the deal.

I think we, and by we I mean SSC, deserve more credit than has been given for the progress of Djed Spence and to a lesser extent MGW and Murillo, although again those two were probably going to be stars regardless of where they were and who they were playing for.

He did an interview saying exactly that.
He signed expecting a lot of cup games at least, due to Europe, after being told he would be the number two.
Was very frustrated when we then signed another keeper, fearing for his place at the World Cup.

Surely here endeth the great currency of Anderson because we have an Anderson valued in Andersons despite already being an Anderson.

Except we changed his position. When he played for Newcastle, it was as a 10 or left winger. When he signed he was seen as cover or a replacement for Morgan. That’s part of the reason he never played regularly for them - he’s not quick enough to play in those positions. We turned him into a central midfielder (partly because he did so well we couldn’t leave him out and that was the position available).

Surely this increase in the value of an Anderson is indicative of the inflationary times we live in. 17 years ago it was 250k, 2 years ago £35m, now £130m. At this rate in 5 years time only Elon Musk will be able to own one.

Is anyone else a bit disappointed that it is "only" £116m after all the talk of £130m?
