Athletic says we're interested in Lucas Bergvall from Spurs as the replacement for Anderson.

Good player and would be an exciting signing but would be asking a lot to expect him to step into Anderson's shoes.

Regarding Archie Brown - feels a bit late to picking up players who Derby were forced to let go during their financial issues. Was aware of him as an English player when we played Fenerbahce (but not the Derby link) but don't remember him doing much in the games.

I don't think we need to worry too much about this. Nobody is going to be able to step into Anderson's shoes because he's a generational talent.

I still maintain it's more fun being the fan of a provincial club, but it's always a bit shit when a really good player comes along because you know he won't be around long.

I'm happier to have players worth pillaging in the Premier than having dog shite in Championship.

Watching Anderson has been a joy. Same for Gibbs White, Murillo, Williams.
Also liked watching Elanga make opposition defenders cry.

Bit of speculation that Anderson to City is done but we want the numbers in next year's accounts. Which, given the previous stories about Elanga making us compliant for the period ending on 30th June, always seemed the most likely scenario.

Looks like Arsenal are going to sign the not especially wondrous wonder kid Monga from Leicester.

There's a tiny part of me hoping that City are about to hit a transfer ban and that's why they are rushing through the sale. It's hard to imagine that his price goes any higher due to World Cup performances, but maybe?

Shocking performance so far. Center back pairing is wank. Rice is asleep. Bellingham isn't there.

Fenerbahce have rejected a 16M bid from us for someone called Archie Brown.

I was always going to call my first born Archie. But I never really wanted kids.

When do eventually get a dog though, well....

Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn, 30, has emerged as a possible target for Manchester United after being released by Nottingham Forest. (Sun)

Maybe a bit less so now, he was in no man's land for that goal. Terrific from Brazil though.

Gunn seems to be trapped in that Scott Carson 3rd choice goalkeeper situation (which to be fair, he may be happy with)

Sounds like a pretty good gig to me. Good money, limited pressure and risk of injury etc, and you get to hang out with proper footballers.

That's a commonly held view in a lot of sports, it's an old trope about backup quarterbacks who make a career from barely ever seeing the field and making millions a year for not having to be routinely destroyed by 280lb bags of muscle and anger whose only job is to try and cause them damage. But I think that when you're at the elite level of sport, being paid to not get to do the thing you've spent your entirely life excelling at is probably quite frustrating.

Yeah, I assume that’s the case for most… but definitely not all. There are plenty of people who are elite in their field but still mostly doing it because it’s their best way to earn a living. Including footballers… some of whom have been pretty open about that. Hell.. Gareth Bale got to being the elite of the elite and openly gave no fucks about whether he was getting games.

Scott Carson could have gone and played regularly somewhere else, but chose not to do so. We’ll see how frustrated Angus Gunn was about getting exactly what he signed up for at Forest if he decides to sign up for exactly same at ManYoo.
