A fine Ridsdale/Seth Johnson apocryphal moment.

Au contraire, he's like pretty much every sales rep I've ever known. Take the easy 80% and move on to the next bit of low hanging fruit, instead of doing the hard work to get the remaining 20% as well and maximizing the value of every customer. They're mostly addicted to the rush of the win.

Supposedly Arsenal and City are interested in Tonali as well. Sounds like agent talk, Arsenal have Rice and City will get Anderson. I'd have thought Man U were a more suited destination but they don't seem to want to spend that kind of money.

Paul Taylor still saying we only want to sign three or four this window. When we all know there’ll be at least that in the last two days.

    Last seasons squad...

    25 Squad players (*Home grown)

    Goalkeepers
    Sels
    John Victor
    Gunn*

    Defenders
    Boly - replaced by Aina
    Murillo
    Milenkovic
    Morato
    Savona
    Williams*
    Zinchenko - replaced by Netz

    Midfielders
    Anderson
    Bakwa
    Dominguez
    Gibbs White

    Hutchinson
    Hudson-Odoi

    McAtee
    Ndoye
    Sangare
Douglas Luiz - replaced by Ortega...
    Yates

    Forwards
    Awoniyi
    Kalimuendo - replaced by Lucca
    Jesus
    Wood

Jair Cunha born in March 2025 will still count as under 21. Abbott has two more years counting under 21.
    Jota Silva may return.

    So where is there space?
    Anderson
Kalimuendo looks to be wanted in Germany, Lucca is gone.
    Ortega gone
    Gunn gone

Looks like we need a centre forward, an Anderson and a goalkeeper. Does Savona get another season? With Anderson and Gunn gone, we are down to the minimum 8 homegrown.

I can see why we aren't looking at bringing much in. Just need quality.

Your listing of home grown players is incredibly incomplete and I've got no idea what the italics signify. I'd start with the squad once contracts expire and loanees return, like this:

    GK: Sels, Victor
Def: Aina, Williams, Netz, Savona, Morato, Cunha, Milenkovic, Murillo, Bindon, Carmo, Cuibaino, Richards, Abbott, Moreira.
Mid: Sangare, Anderson, Dominguez, Yates, CHO, Gibbs-White, Ndoye, Hutchinson, McAtee, Bakwa, Silva
    For: Awoniyi, Wood, Jesus, Kalimuendo.

That's 31 but Bindon, Cunha, Abbott and Moreira are all under 21.
    Homegrown isn't an issue - there's 11 of those in that 27.
Expecting Savona, Carmo, Cuibaino, Richards, Anderson, Silva and Kalimuendo to leave, which gets us down to 20 even if Awoniyi, Ndoye, Morato don't. (Maybe Silva stays if Nodoye goes?) That's 5-8 spaces and still 8 homegrown, even if all 10 above leave.

Missed John Victor off the list of expected to leave.

So we need two keepers, unless they are happy with Bott or Willows as third choice; a full back, a centre back if Morato goes or VP intends to use a three; couple of midfielders and a striker. No chance we only sign "three or four".

It's Talkback seeing the asterisks as the start and finish of italics.

So why did the Gunn and Williams ones work?
