A few times? I know he gets out into those positions I have circled pretty regularly - evidenced by the many crosses he puts in from there as well as the few goals he scored where Grealish has pulled the ball back for him. Hackney will be bursting into the box though, and/or looking to carry it to the edge of the box and play one-two's. Quite different to Garner. When Garner isn't drifting out to the left/forward position he will be more of a sitting playmaker / quarterback. Hackney won't be conflicting with him there.
But Dewsbury-Hall is really good and it feels like Hackney would take his place. Certainly doesn't seem that Garner/Hackney is a viable cm partnership.
I'm fascinated by the obsession modern football fans have with finding neat boxes to put players into, when the game has never been more positionally fluid. At least you get credit for not using Football Manager abbreviations, but the idea of highlighting a hole in a formation and say "he'll play here" confuses the bejesus out of me. Outside of the keeper and Mbappe, no one at the top levels has such positional rigidity.
So I guess my question is, who are you dropping from that Everton side to fit £30M of Hayden Hackney into?
lets not forget that last summer the hype was around Tyler Dibling, who ended up going to Everton and hasn't been seen since September.. the step up from Division One to the Prem, has never been greater... I'm not going to lose any sleep if we don't sign Hackney... but then I also wasn't panicking for most of last season that we were going to be relegated.. as Tricky is keen to say YMMV
Tyler Dibling had played the season in the premier league with Southampton, where he hadn't done much (but was and is still very young). Don't think it's hindsight that most people had Fernandes as the better prospect and he's likely to leave West Ham for big bucks this summer.
