So players we were heavily linked with in January under a different manager, but didn't sign.
Insightful. Not so much hot, as been in the freezer for four months.

Both have got a year left - I think Taiwo will leave but I don’t think there’s much chance of Wood not being here.

  • 10 May 2026, 9:46 p.m.

Quite. He turns 35 in December and not sure who else is going to be matching his £100k-a-week contract.

  • 10 May 2026, 10:33 p.m.

Yes but the same strategy team apart from EDU is still there and I am quite sure if Vitor is still our manager he is not going to be involved in transfer decisions.

Thought Wood signed a 1 year extension. Didn’t realise it was two…

Still best to get in a good replacement with the Ando money. Maybe bring back Barry to keep Murillo happy. Might be feeling better now that Dyche is gone…

    Chicago: Logical.

Naively, I'm hoping for a fairly low volume summer. Keep most of this season's squad and add some high value first team ready players.

    Current squad situation is:

    Under contract for next season:
Sels, John Victor, Williams, Netz, Savona, Aina, Moreira, Abbott, Morato, Cunha, Milenkovic, Murillo, Sangare, Anderson, Dominguez, Yates, CHO, Gibbs-White, Ndoye, Hutchinson, McAtee, Bakwa, Awoniyi, Wood, Jesus.

I think we'll want to move on John Victor, Morato and Awoniyi and probably Anderson and Murillo will also leave. I'd hope to keep MGW.

    Returning loanees:
    Cuibano, Carmo, Bindon, Silva, Kalimuendo.

Interesting that Bindon has been training with the first team but I guess that's just about keeping fit for the world cup. Unless they think he's premier league ready, which seems unlikely, I doubt we'll want to any of them in next season's squad. Probably worth having a look at Kalimuendo but I was never that convinced and I think he's benefited from the uplift in reputation players get when they aren't around.

    Out of contract/end of loan:
    Gunn, Ortega, Richards, Boly, Lucca.

Guess we'll try to extend Ortega if he wants it but otherwise I don't think any of them will be here next season.

Bindon should get plenty of chances to stand out for AoNZ at the World Cup. Wood might be a technically better player all round, but he won't get the ball much.
I think he'll be in the 1st team squad next year, effectively replacing Morato.

  • 11 May 2026, 10:26 a.m.

I don't like being down to one goalie. Our history of summer goalkeeper signings is pretty shit. Or unlucky in Hendo's case.

  • 11 May 2026, 12:12 p.m.

Definitely need 2 strikers in the Summer, at least one of which should be as Premier ready as possible, not a development player. Time for Awoniyi to move on, despite the feels. Thank you for your service. Wood coming back from protracted injury, then World Cup is more likely to spend a good amount of time injured next season. Anderson will need replacing with 2 midfielders and forgive me for saying this, we should replace Dominguez. Angry wasp isnt enough of a midfield talent for where we need to be.
If we don't believe in McAtee then we need Gibbs White back up.
Wingers? I guess we might want to move some on. We need more goals from them but all of the new crop have show some potential if not as much as we hoped. And CHO wasnt at his most productive.
Is Cunha ready to step up? Murilo may be gone and Morato should be. no matter his recent improvement, he is no stranger to brain fart. So we will need at least one Central defender
Also a full back. left or right should do.
And I'd be happy to keep Ortega.

Who do we bring in? Not a clue

I expect most of the B team to be released as well. They might keep Hanks and Whitehall, with views to a loan, plus Sinclair who has just signed a new long-term deal. It's a big squad though (four keepers), particularly with some very good U18s moving up (eg Daly, Blake, Sanneh).
Most of the this year's loans (Osong, Thompson, McAdam, Hammond) were with a view to a permanent deal. Powell has another year on his contract, but is not getting a look in Trentside (got some decent minutes at Fleetwood though after a disappointing time at Colchester). Gardner still under contract I think (IIRC he signed a new deal not that long ago) and has definitely developed/grown, but not had enough minutes at Mansfield (mainly due to losing his place early on due to several injuries). I like the look of McNeilly (pace and power), but his loan at Wycombe was ended in January,

Interestingly, I had a chat with a young Forest player recently who said it was really frustrating and the club didn't seem to have a clear plan for them - distorted by Taylor/McDonnell in that is feels like club are just hoping for a successful loan and then cash in. Certainly no clear route to first team, when the club would rather spend millions on young players from elsewhere (eg Moreira, Netz) than give a young homegrown player a chance. Abbott the only exception, but it feels like he was only kept around to keep up the "academy player in the matchday squad" run when Yates was suspended and would benefit from regular football elsewhere.

It's difficult to know unless you watch the 'b' team regularly but has there been anybody who has really stood out since Brennan as an obvious candidate to step up. Even Abbott is not a definite (agreed he is not getting enough games) and should go to championship club next season on loan IMHO.

  • 11 May 2026, 2:36 p.m.

I was wondering if we might see Abbott given a go at CB during the final two games. Perhaps 45 minutes for Jimmy Sinclair somewhere too.

  • 11 May 2026, 2:41 p.m.

I'd be having a chat with Chelsea about Delap. I think he could be fantastic at the right club with a system set up to get the best out of him.

  • 11 May 2026, 2:47 p.m.

Problem might be the wages he is on at Chelsea.

  • 11 May 2026, 2:57 p.m.

You're not the first person I've seen say that and I don't understand it at all. He's limited as a player and is a massive dickhead. Reminds me of Oli McBurnie and is likely to have a similar career trajectory imo.

  • 11 May 2026, 3:43 p.m.

I can't speak to his cuntitude, but I think he's a solid striker at the level and, realistically, the sort of target Forest are likely to be in for.

  • 11 May 2026, 7:52 p.m.

I will not forgive you for that, no. He is everything Ryan Yates is, but better at all of those things. An absolutely reliable 7 or 8 out of 10 every single game. Under no circumstances should we be getting rid of him.

  • 11 May 2026, 9:04 p.m.

When we sell Elliot, do we update the agreed value of an "Anderson" by ~400x?

  • 11 May 2026, 9:05 p.m.

How many Andos is an Ando?
