Down the pecking order at arse an all probably means that Eze is at a wage level that makes it difficult for us to achieve our ongoing financial metrics for success (in the short term, at our current income level).

    You should ask.

I generally don't. He is forthcoming with knowledge when he chooses to be.

Also don't see him swapping places with MGW because they probably also swap places in the England pecking order. Works for MGW, less so for Eze.

If Eze needs a change of scenery I'd imagine a big European club is more likely than another Prem outfit.

Given MGW was made to run through fields on a Sunday, it's hard to believe it's not happening now.

I presume you guys saw this graphic? Obviously it's more complicated than this simplistic representation, but I can see why he is angry at them the last few games for supposedly not putting enough effort in.

It's not a matter of running. It's a matter of decision making. Complaining about effort is bullshit. All professional players work their tits off otherwise they don't have a job. (see Jack Grealish 2026)...

I honestly still think it's the tactics. Also again Glasner pointed out that we were beaten by two long balls past the defenders (where the wing backs are not but full backs would be). That is not the fault of the player if he is told to leg it up the field to support the attack. That is positional tactics. Also if you have the ball more then of course you don't have to run as much...

    So I call bullshit.

Fuck me Jim, you know it isn't 1979 any more right? Judging a team on how far they run and punishing them by making them run through dog shit on the canal banks, next he'll be making them go for dinner at the Italian place next to the City Ground.

  • 4 Nov 2026, 6 p.m.

What do you want these "better tactics" to actually accomplish other than "win games"? Cause we're already pretty decent at restricting the opposition to chances, and we're pretty good at making chances for our forwards. Tactics don't put the ball in the net.

But we've got the second coming of Stan Collymore up front so that can't be the problem.

  • 4 Nov 2026, 6:02 p.m.

Did you miss the bit where I said "Obviously it's more complicated than this" ?

  • 4 Nov 2026, 6:03 p.m.

You keep coming back to him without discussing any of the others players missing chances, of which there have been many.

  • 4 Nov 2026, 6:06 p.m.

In which case he could have just been reporting to Marinakis that the team generally was very unhappy without stirring himself. Could have been Ange or Dyche.

  • 4 Nov 2026, 6:07 p.m.

I dunno, whenever I've watched it seems like our best goalscorer isn't actually getting into many positions to score. Call me dumb but I'm struggling to understand how someone watches Morgan over the last couple of seasons and says "I think the best thing to do here is to change the formation and put him somewhere he can be less dangerous".

But yeah, maybe it's just a mix of bad luck and all the players taking a team decision to be lazy and shit. Definitely must be that.

  • 4 Nov 2026, 6:41 p.m.

And yet it feels like every struggling manager did exactly that.

  • 4 Nov 2026, 6:42 p.m.

Come on Jim, have a word with yourself. This isn't the time for careful analysis. This is a time for moaning and wanting the world to be different, even if we are not prepared to say what that might look like, why, and how we might reasonably go about doing it. No point attempting balanced criticism, when you have at your fingertips hyperbole and a cast iron conviction that your lazy assumptions are always correct.

  • 4 Nov 2026, 6:55 p.m.

    You're dumb. Happy to oblige.

What were the other bits? Ah yes, would you say that MGW is a great finisher, what are his strengths weaknesses...is he a tight space precision player? Let's forget about how we get there without being bummed...but if morgan was up along the opposition back line he's probably not the most precise at short creative passes...he's probably better as a quick delivering (slightly lower completion rate) transition or mid to long range passer.

So you might reasonably have a number nine who stretches the space to open up those sort of options, and play MGW deeper to get on the ball and hit the spaces.

My personal opinion would be that Ndoye, Schlager, and McAtee are the problem with this particular setup and formation...not the other two that you identify. Ndoye because nothing happens when the ball reaches him, Schlager because he's a trundler without the quality of pass, and McAtee becasue he is short range precision and doesn't have the longer range of (quick) pass. If anything I'd play MGW deeper, and McAtee further forward....maybe MGW is dropping in deeper in game because of this?
