The most sensible Chicago post ever. I may print it out and frame it, it's spot on.

MGW hasn't left because the chairman wouldn't let him.
Anyway, Anderson being a done deal despite Man City's rampant cheating and without any irony FFP, or whatever it is called this week, dictating the transfer market is bent.
Players leaving for bigger things is fine, but these days it's engineered by the authorities to keep the TV companies happy and maintain the EPLs global position. Bent as fuck.
Basically football was better when you were younger, it was much fresher and you were less aware of the workings. It's the same for everyone. Your golden age will be later than mine by about the same number of years as I'm older than you. That's just how the world works.
I think we all know football achieved perfection in 1979, which was 3 years before I was born.
In my time you've had:
Blackburn - the last of the local boy done good stories
and
Leicester - a 5000/1 fluke
Not looking to rediscover any lost youth here.
Our model being to find under priced talent and sell it at a decent profit, for now, seems to be sort of OK.
To redefine and Anderson is quite a thing
We are getting some help with some of those outward sales.
...and I'm not sure how we stand up on 'value' purchases, amongst the recent incomings.
I dunno, a good proportion of our squad would sell for more than we paid. Although we should probably do it soon if we're going to let the manager keep putting them into roles designed to minimize their abilities.
How many of them are better than the player in their position last season, or the season before?
I'm not disputing your valuation, per se, but that's more down to the artificial bull market that is nothing to do with actual football value.
That's fair, although many have been in their position for a couple of seasons or more (MGW, Murillo, Neco, Milenkovic) and others are getting worse as a result of the way they're being used. Wood is getting old, so is Sels and not being protected the way he was, Aina and Morgan are out of position, CHO and Sangare and Dominguez are being needlessly unused because the manager is shit.
But if you want to jump on the wtf bandwagon with me about Delap and the wing back whose name I forget and don't care, I have plenty of room.

Obviously opinions and shit, but the consensus seems to be that Delap had a very good but thankless game on Sunday. Both CHO and Sangare are perhaps still recovering from injury. Dominguez does busy very well but lacks a lot of other stuff and Schlagerlagerlager is perhaps also another Dominguez.
Schlager isn't fit to clean Dom's boots.
I'm confused. I thought he was supposed to be a Mega Mega White Thing?
The problem I see is Delap is V good all round but not necessarily in scoring positions. And Dom, Schlager, McAtee don't appear to be goalscorers. So we lack someone to put the ball in after Delaps hard work.

I don't disagree with that...but Delap has the attitude and drive of a goal pig. Absolutely not the productivity yet, but I think it's coming. At an achievable price I can't think of a player I'd rather have in the position...and I do think Jesus has a part to play here as well.
It's unfortunate that Woods injury came at a time when his leg time left is diminishing, but we are not bad in the position. Where I have some sympathy with Russ' view is that I don't think the answer to goalscoring lies with what we are doing wide or behind them (MGW excepted).
I think that we need to create (or utilise before it's gone) the space for Delap's first phase runs, and have the wide players following in. This is not aided by the lack of range on the kick from our midfield.
