Villa beating Liverpool last night makes it unlikely that any of the B teams will get champions league by finishing 6th. (The extra place only happens if Villa finish 5th and win the Europa league. Because reasons.)

If all the permutations, this was a thing I never understood. It led to one of the Bs needing to lose to Liverpool to get a CL place.

As above, the sixth CL place only happens if Villa finish 5th and win the Europa league (the bonus place for 5th is reallocated, the usual 4 places aren't).

Brentford are playing Liverpool on the last day.

So if Brentford were guaranteed 6th and Liverpool needed a win to finish above Villa in 4th (pushing Villa down to the 5th), it would be in their interest to lose.

But that scenario isnt now possible.
