There wouldn't be much point spying unless you told the coach what you'd seen, so he could adapt his game plan.

I didn’t see the Villa Spurs game but the impression I’ve got is that, as well as picking a reserve team, they barely made any effort. You can’t accuse the team we sent out at Chelsea of that, given the result and the casualties on the day.

We may have played the B team, but we went for it, and brought on quite a few of the A team early in the second half to try and see it out. It was very different. That twat Emery practically read a book during the Spurs game.

Most annoying is it worked for them.They threw the game v Spurs (rested players and those on the pitch told not to try) to try and force us to play strong v Chelsea. We had to bring on MGW and then lost him for the second leg, massive blow

Edit: As for Villa - meh. It would have been fine if they had just beaten us which they did comprehensively but them gifting the Spuds a lifeline does leave a bit of puke in the throat.... Anyway, after disposing of us it was always likely to happen that they would win.
