Might it be cheaper to mail them one by one over normal letter mail? Though I'm fucked if I'm wading my way through this lot.

I sea freighted the contents of my house to Canada 17 years ago, I think it was about £5K for a full container but you can get partials. I'd get in touch with someone like Pickfords and see if they can do it.

This is, almost certainly, the answer. I think it cost me about £3k for half a container to Australia 11 years ago. I used Dorree Bonner. If there’s no time pressure (which, presumably there isn’t) then that saves some money cos they can just wait until there’s a container with the right amount of room.

I can’t imagine there would be a cheaper way for normies to move a shitload of stuff from one continent to another.

I think with some effort I could get my life down to a few suitcases. I'd sell 99% of my stuff and just keep some sentimental things (and even then...). Mrs Shady on the other hand ... fuck sake.

I reckon I shed 75% of my stuff before moving, and could have gone harder.. but I have a lot of art, much of which is properly framed, so that was always going to be the killer.

Converting shelves and shelves of cd’s, dvd’s and books down to a hard drive was very satisfying. I have missed approximately zero of the things I got rid of.

The fact that you're in a transatlantic port city will also help a lot, it means you can collect it directly from the shipping agent once it clears customs rather than having to pay for them to then freight it overland. My stuff came to Montreal and had to be driven to Ottawa, I feel like a chunk of the cost was that last leg.

If you did it soon Chic you could sell spaces in it for world cup fans to come over for the final.

How much could you get for Mrs Shady, do you think?

I'd have thought the transit time would be at least 3 weeks. With our defence i'd say thats optimistic.

Dave is perfectly happy that someone took his attempt at a wordplay joke and escalated it. With hilarious results!
