Yes, of course. Though there is some goalscoring merit in 'buying a ticket' rather than just safely retaining possession (defending with the ball). But the eyes are always your friend in how meaningful a strike is.
Watching Anderson is a reminder of what we have lost from our midfield and whatever anyone thinks McAtee might become he is nowhere near that level, not is anyone else in our team. We couldn't keep him but we are weaker defensively and in attack for losing him.
Well you know how it happens. You don’t put a team away when you have the chance then it invariably ends up with us losing.
Confidence is a problem. We should have been three or four up. As soon as we conceded you know it was probably over.
Don’t be fooled. This team is in a relegation battle. For the life of me I don’t see us winning many games unless we score first and then hold on for dear life. Remind you of somebody? We don’t look like a counter attacking team palace do. Still..
They are not very good. Neither are we. Schlager was good for a long time. N’Doye can finish but falls over at the drop of a hat. McAtee was a bit rubbish. I have no idea what Diomande offers than Cunha Doesn’t. Ola was fine. We also were victims of pinball defending. Although what has happened to dealing with set pieces and our inability to suddenly defend them. Can we have some tactical flexibility please? We are not a five at the back team.
Bah.
Will be happy with 12th at this point. I suspect we will be lower soon especially with cheaty and the Arse coming up.
The space behind Schlager and McAtee remains an issue. As soon as the opposition get the ball there the back 3 don't seem to know whether to come to the ball, hold position or retreat. The shape collapses and holes appear.
Good analysis. Better than Tricky is able to offer.
It worked well for the first half to be honest. If we'd been 3-0 up, as we deserved, we might have brought on someone like Yates or Sangare or Dominguez and shored things up. But we'll never know.
