    @Dean has written:

    Mate offered me a free ticket to a band who he described as rock called The Bronze at Rock City, turns out it was the Bronx at Rescue Rooms who didn't quite fit that description. It was good though, loud, energetic and plenty of charisma.

    I would have been at that gig in a flash

    Currently got Cherry Red Records in the office. We're building them a website. They've brought me a copy of the re-mixed version of Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables. This makes me insanely happy.

    If Beethoven and Mozart lived today they'd be making electronic music.

    I really really like that. I am not a massive dance fan but I do like cinematic music and Two Steps from Hell and Thomas Bergmann. It's clever and energetic and also relaxing. I have saved all his stuff on my spotify playlist (because I can), and it is very satisfying. Glad to see you are not totally into shouty stuff. (although I like Shouty stuff).

    Oh god no. It’s Mike Patton I feel sorry for. He’s going to have to apologise to the world again.

    Decided I really don't like hearing live gigs on the Radio. Not that I listened by choice, but Radio 2 played a live version of Girls and Boys by Blur the other day (not a song I particularly rate anyway), and it sounded awful. His voice sounded shit, and you have to put up with the silences left for the crowd to join in. I'm ambivalent when it comes to watching them on screen, but really a gig must be experienced live IMHO.

    Not to be confused with live sessions which have produced some great alternative versions of studio tracks.

    The new Skindred album is excellent. This is one of the catchiest rock/metal songs I've heard in years, it's stupidly good fun:

    I interviewed Skindred in their early days and they always seemed like nice chaps even though their music at the time wasn't truly defined. It was all over the place with a Faith No More vibe. Just not very focused. They certainly have managed to evolve into some catchy musicians nowadays. Give me that boom is like prime P.O.D. which I have no problem with.

    I find it gratifying that they have been scratching along for so long to come out with some fans now. I think and this is purely from recollection that they broke up a few times too.

    So, yeah more power to them. Sometimes bands mature like fine wine. This is definitely the case when the majority of acts get tired and wither like unpicked vines because they don't need to prove anything anymore.

    I love this band so much, this is their new single released today. I've mentioned them in here before but they deserve to get a lot more recognition, they're unbelievably fun live.

    Went to Manchester Psyche Fest on Saturday which at around £40 a ticket was excellent value. Bumped into a good member of this here Parish at Just Mustard. Goth Shoegaze stuff.

    HIghlights for me were The Murlocs. Aussie garage psyche that took the roof off the Ritz.
    And TVAM. Full audio visual keyboards guitars immersive stuff. Trippy AF.

    There's a remarkable set of recordings from the Newport Folk Festival 2022, of a "Joni Jam". I'm generally not a fan of live versions over studio versions...but I commend "Both sides now" to the house. It adds a lot.
