I read their wiki because I recognized the name and couldn’t think why. Their big hit was Melt with You which was very big in the US. You hear it fairly often on ads and retro playlists/radio here. Nothing other than that that I’ve heard.

    Accidental quoted rather than editing.
Anyway, I was surprised to find Melt with You only got to 76 in the charts in the US considering how much you hear it.

They were (are?) a new wave band. They were of my era, and in my preferred genre.

I had no recall of them*. Though I have heard the melt with you song before.

    * those paying attention will be totally unsurprised.

Seeing Simple Minds tomorrow night, they're supported by someone called Modern English. Listened to a few of the songs that wiki tells me were their biggest hits, absolutely no bells ringing. Were they a thing that just passed me by?

I would guess I'm the most likely to be a fan of theirs. I'm aware they exist. Couldn't name a tune.

Parked the power ballads for a bit and give Bowling for Soup and The Offspring a bit of stick at the moment.

Saw Tate McRae at the O2 tonight.

No me neither until a couple of weeks ago.

Daughter had spare ticket so I went along.

She can sing and dance and has some catchy tunes.

I wouldn't think (m)any if you lot need to be rushing for tickets to be fair.

I quite like her. I'm a bit of a pop diva though, and she's Canadian so I'm probably more exposed to her than most of you (at least the ones without teenage daughters).

I checked with Senorita Mus as she falls into that target demographic - thats a no vote in this house apparently.

My teenage daughter is listening to The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead. Very proud.

We don't talk about the other one.

My spotify list is currently 349,888 saved songs. Clearly I am trying to be as didactic as I can be.

I know Modern English, Simple Minds, THe Smiths, Artic Monkeys, Radiohead and even Tate McRae. There isn't much I don't know about. Whether i like them or not is another question. All have their charms, even young McRae who is a bit naughty but can sing. She is not the best of the pop divas but has a few tunes that are mildly diverting. She is like a Canadian Kesha I reckon.. I am still more into the rock/metal stuff but am not adverse to other things. I am digging Celtic punk rock at the moment for no apparent reason... I am sure it's just a phase..

Just listened to the Stereophonics, Toto Coelo ("I eat Cannibals!), and am listening to the Terminator theme tune. I like random me. It keeps me away from having to focus on real issues...Like home life...

She's always liked Dire Straits, thanks for asking!

Not been to a festival for many decades, but have bought tickets for GTSF which is in Kirklington, next village to Southwell. Will see Eliza Carthy (remember her Dad, Martin, very vaguely) who is headlining instead of Richard Thompson who I did want to see. He fell over and broke bones, apparently.

Not heard of any of the other bands but will report back on whether it was all shit or only partly shit.
