Watched Yobs last night.
Blurry fuzzy shouty garage punk.
Was ace
Would have been better to get the last train home rather than doing shots of Sliwowica in the AM.
It appears I'm not one for learning repeated lessons.
Pottering around the house with Youtube on in the background I suddenly realised it was playing John Shuttleworth's Europigeon song. Found myself changing the lyric 'pigeons in flight' to Morgan Gibbs-White (I want to see you tonight).
On my way back from. Seeing massive attack. Having a quiet moment because I didn't think anything like that was possible. My inner cynic is in trouble.
Found some dusty stale mushroom chocolate in a drawer that was probably not going to work. I was wrong. A hint of MDMA as well. These were good choices.
Sat next to a fucking mental guy from Stoke and his thankfully sober twin brother. He took umbrage at middle class twats in front of us. Had to step in front of him at the end and urge them to fuck off quick.
I hate arena gigs because they are emotionless spaces with little connection to the experience. Massive Attack were complete masters of using AV to completely immerse you.
And also Elizabeth Fraser who I had never seen before despite Cocteau Twins being all time favourite band.
Seeing Simple Minds tomorrow night, they're supported by someone called Modern English. Listened to a few of the songs that wiki tells me were their biggest hits, absolutely no bells ringing. Were they a thing that just passed me by?
I read their wiki because I recognized the name and couldn’t think why. Their big hit was Melt with You which was very big in the US. You hear it fairly often on ads and retro playlists/radio here. Nothing other than that that I’ve heard.
Accidental quoted rather than editing.
Anyway, I was surprised to find Melt with You only got to 76 in the charts in the US considering how much you hear it.
