The QOTSA set was where you should have been last night. Riffs to make GnR weep delivered with the panache Arctic Monkeys couldnt even conceive of. Also the band you'd want on your side in a fight.

And really, you can see the bands you actually want to see at a normal gig in a venue with better acoustics. And the stuff you come across randomly that stays with you is a total accident, so you have to get lucky.

Festivals are pretty good value to be honest. I'm paying the best part of £200 to see Blur and Pulp in the next month, but Glastonbury was what? £350? Probably see 10-15 bands over the festival. Plus festivals have never been just about the music. I'd elaborate, but I'm sure you know what I mean.

If you're paying that much to see Blur and Pulp then you thoroughly deserve the unlubed corporate bitty ramming you're going to get.

What is a bitty ramming, and why am I going to get it at a gig?

Was meant to be Botty but Bitty works well.

Always good when you have to explain your own jokes.

It's definitely sub-optimal, but maybe you should all be trying harder.

Dirty Den was an Eastenders character though, not in the Paradise Club?

I thought he was referring to Dirty Dan. Then I realised that it was Desperate Dan. So Are we Beano or Dandy?

The Paradise Club was Leslie (Dirty Den) Grantham's first TV leading role after leaving EastEnders.

Don Henderson was the reason I watched it. Bulman was aces. Plus his Star Wars bit.

Signs you're getting old #67285: a younger friend posts that she went to see Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds last night but was disappointed she only recognised one song in the whole set. A quick look at the set list reveals, amongst others:

    • Masterplan
    • Don't Look Back In Anger
    • Live Forever
    • Half The World Away
    • Little By Little

You're not factoring into your thinking that it might just be her sub-conscious blocking them out.

Mate offered me a free ticket to a band who he described as rock called The Bronze at Rock City, turns out it was the Bronx at Rescue Rooms who didn't quite fit that description. It was good though, loud, energetic and plenty of charisma.

I would have been at that gig in a flash
