Despite your (Guru's) confidence in the other thread that I could make a fist of the new potential sitcom in town <canned laughter> I was reluctant to turn ....'s Bar into the Gammon and Mince sequel as it's one thing extrapolating a couple of sterotypes based on nicknames and another creating something that would end up too heavily rooted in sarcasm about someone's actual life. Clearly I have no knowledge of many aspects of Russ' life - such as Metal Cruises - to even have a stab at it. And I've never been to Canada. Someone else will have to adopt this project.

    <panto villain booooooooooos>

Russ walks into a metal bar.

    Says "Ow, that really hurt

    Sorry......

That's a very low bar joke.

We’re talking about Oasis, right? I mean… they are a lot of things, but I have to think this is the first time anyone has suggested they are that thing.

Yes I found them pretentious because they went out of their way to be obnoxious pricks. It seemed definitely Maybe put on for selling themselves... Which is a bit crap because Morning Glory whilst a little derivative of the Beatles was still a startlingly great album.

    Chicago: Authentic.

Still recovering from Manchester Psych Fest. Loads of great bands that can loosely be described as psychedelic. Saw some 60s style French stuff; some west coast psyche pop, straight out grunge and a surprising amount of dance music. Not my usual thing but I was somewhat off my tits.

I think Russ might like James Holden Common Land

And La Luz certainly stuck in my mind Strange World Definitely one for you indie kids.

£35 and I was out from mid day till 3am.
    Fuck you Oasis

Bit noodly acid electro for my taste.

Most of you won't care, but after a couple of weeks of trailing it Linkin Park are livestreaming a secret show right now to introduce their new singer. It's a woman called Emily Armstrong and she's pretty good, I'm excited for them to tour. Looks like they also have a new album coming November 15th.

Is this a bit like the Beatles are definitely keeping going. Just without John, Paul, George, or Ringo?

No, not at all. More like when AC/DC replaced Bon Scott with Brian Johnson.

I was listening to their new song this morning, pretty determined not to like her (because, like a lot of people I adore Chester Bennington and feel like he saved me when I was a teen) however I thought she did a pretty good job!
Apparently on the live her voice was cracking a bit though so I'm not sure how she'll cope with the tour if that's the case. But I thought she sounded good.

No, nothing like that yet. Just Noel and Liam on the poster.
Bonehead has been playing with Liam so expect him to be there.
Gem is a high-flying bird so also a possibility though!
Guigsy apparently won’t answer the phone and not sure where Andy Bell is with Ride, so possibly one of Noel/Gem/Bonehead will play bass with the other two on lead and rhythm.
Alan White is also off the radar, so I’d guess Starkey or Sharrock (also a HFB) on drums.

    Latest is..
Gem/Bonehead supposedly signed on. Andy Bell says he is available (despite being in the midst of a tour with Ride at the moment - guessing Ride won't be lining up any festivals next year).
    Starkey expected on drums.

Refused are doing a final farewell tour, and I'm very sure they actually mean it this time. Will be making the effort to see that.

I was expecting Sharrock on drums. Bonehead /Archer/ Bell isn't a surprise, obviously.

Dave Grohl has announced on his social media that he's got another woman pregnant, is seeking forgiveness from his wife and family, plans to be a loving and supportive parent to his new daughter, etc.

Cue plenty of 'I've got another confession to make' and 'There goes my hero' lines in response...
