Yes I found them pretentious because they went out of their way to be obnoxious pricks. It seemed definitely Maybe put on for selling themselves... Which is a bit crap because Morning Glory whilst a little derivative of the Beatles was still a startlingly great album.
Still recovering from Manchester Psych Fest. Loads of great bands that can loosely be described as psychedelic. Saw some 60s style French stuff; some west coast psyche pop, straight out grunge and a surprising amount of dance music. Not my usual thing but I was somewhat off my tits.
Most of you won't care, but after a couple of weeks of trailing it Linkin Park are livestreaming a secret show right now to introduce their new singer. It's a woman called Emily Armstrong and she's pretty good, I'm excited for them to tour. Looks like they also have a new album coming November 15th.
I was listening to their new song this morning, pretty determined not to like her (because, like a lot of people I adore Chester Bennington and feel like he saved me when I was a teen) however I thought she did a pretty good job!
Apparently on the live her voice was cracking a bit though so I'm not sure how she'll cope with the tour if that's the case. But I thought she sounded good.
Latest is..
Gem/Bonehead supposedly signed on. Andy Bell says he is available (despite being in the midst of a tour with Ride at the moment - guessing Ride won't be lining up any festivals next year).
Starkey expected on drums.
Dave Grohl has announced on his social media that he's got another woman pregnant, is seeking forgiveness from his wife and family, plans to be a loving and supportive parent to his new daughter, etc.
Cue plenty of 'I've got another confession to make' and 'There goes my hero' lines in response...
