I saw Pitman at the Charlotte. Shame he stopped making music.

I know this sounds like grade-A muso cunt stuff… but I really think his first LP failed to live up to the genius on the early 7”s.

He may have had no more to give the world than Phone Pitman and Witness the Pitness but, honestly, that’s more than enough.

I've not revisited him for a while, and I don't think he's hit spotify. I did always like his "mam said" LL Cool J.

Very late to the party but I have just discovered The Quantic Soul Orchestra. Quite magnificent.

After numerous aborted attempts at playing a gig in Chicago and another change in venue, Biffy Clyro played the House of Blues last night.

Normally a great little venue to watch a concert, the sound and lights were terrible. The Bass was ridiculous and the drum snares drowned everything out. on top of that the lights kept going out. It was quite maddening. Wifey who isn't too familiar with the majesty that is Biffy "Fuckin' Clyro wanted to leave which was not optimal. Then six songs into the set, they switched to acoustic and there was still bass feedback from somewhere. Half way through the song, someone flipped a switch and then we could all hear everything perfectly. I have to admit the band are amazingly professional or Simon Neil is a massive tweaker because they just got on with it and also played the most amazing solos in the pitch black. I didn't know how great a guitarist Simon is. I mean really great. The man managed the most technical playing whilst spinning around like a whirling dervish. The crowd knew every word which was particulary impressive and helpful when the sound was boilocks.

All in all a good experience as they really made up for the flawed sound experience that marred the beginning of the show. And boy are they heavy. Heavier than the albums. Great stuff.

Of course our adventure wasn't over as we had used an app (spot hero) to get good parking downtown and to get back into the building (weren't the only ones with the same problem), the building required that you download an app and pay to gain access to it from the outside. Which a) is a new one by me and b) a load of old bollocks. As everyone was freaking out I managed to call a number and get a bloke from India (yes even buildings have customer service there), to let us in. Wifey though completely lost her shit and spazzed out by grabbing my phone and screaming down it for what seemed like forever. I pointed out that I was holding the door for other people who couldn't get through because she was standing there losing her shit and we almost got locked out again. I wondered if maybe I had spoken too soon that her peri menopause mentalness was still there when she had been calm for 3 months. Oh well, a new wrinkle when it comes to parking in the grand old city of Chicago.

    Chicago: Feeling Biffed.

I was surprised to see Sade inducted to the RnR HoF as I had always dismissed her/them as a cheesy 80s/90s soul for grocery stores and elevators kind of product. Am now listening and I may have done her/them a disservice.

    It's clearly music for fucking.
