I'd forgotten the aerial bit. I - now - seem to recall that whenever the nubbin fingerer looked to the left the radio switched to the Coventry game.

I've just looked the game up - 14th September 2002. 0-1. Prutton and Lester sent off.

I don't recall it, despite the apparent drama, but would definitely have been there. Wasn't that the start of the really enjoyable season under Paul Hart, when we built the team around Prutton, Reid, Williams, Dawson (and Des Walker)?

Weather like this makes me nervous. We live on the top of a large hill and we're quite exposed. I keep going around the house checking things. Found some water ingress around the patio doors which is a bit worrying. Think maybe the wind is forcing water into some tiny gaps which don't normally cause a problem.

Just voted in the municipal elections. My preferred local councilor won't win but it looks like neither will the frat boy racist, and while I have my issues with the incumbent who looks set to win he's not terrible.

Mayor is going to be a tight one and I fear the right wing lackey will edge it. The incumbent is good and she's done a bunch of good things, but she's run a terrible campaign.

    "Terrible campaign"?

When I moved to 'mericy to watch the packers game last night, I was once again reminded how disgusting and appalling the political advertising is in the 'land of the free'. It's impossible to have an informed rational political dialogue with that stuff as a backdrop. I imagine canadia is nowhere near as bad. But still.

The vile biased unscrutinised fascist false equivalence that we get over here is intelligent constructive discourse in comparison.

It reminds me that 'civilisation' is fucked if we let that be the standards that we live by. No wonder these cunts think that they can do anything they want with us. We are thick mugs, we must be because they are showing us what they think of us....and we are lapping it up.

Canada is absolutely nowhere near as bad. We don't have, or allow, faceless shell corps pouring hundreds of millions of murky dollars into massive air time buys to trash rivals and blow dogwhistles for bigoted illiterates.

We do still elect some shit politicians though.

Our elections are on at the moment, and we seem to have free rein on political funding from corporate interests, which is one reason why awful parties get over-represented. The worse reason is that's what Kiwis are like.

Good news: incumbent won a new term as mayor by a surprisingly comfortable margin.

Also good news: despite my choice for councilor polling in 3rd three days ago, and quite a distance so, he seems to have won and also by a reasonable margin.

    Tonight the good guys won.
