I hope all the Man Ure fans who have spent their time since screaming variations on 'IT'S THE LAW! READ THE LAWS!' are ok.
Not really.

Seriously, what a load of bollocks. The worst sort of apology, one with zero consequence.
Imagine (“and it isn’t hard to do”) that we needed something from that game to avoid relegation. What would they do then? Actually, they probably wouldn't even apologise for fear of EM suing their bollocks off/setting fire to their bakeries.
To be honest I'd feel a bit better if he'd apologised for appointing a match official, who was unable to exercise obvious judgement on this matter, as a result of incompetence or an intellectual/emotional framework that made it impossible to give the correct decision despite the overwhelming evidence. But I imagine that would give worms in a can, without a lid, level of problems to them. Which they absolutely deserve given the clusterfuck they are making of officiating.
So we will all have to go on pretending that these things can happen. Accidentally, of course.
My understanding is that there's an apology sent to Forest, but we don't know the contents? Because, while I feel it's a clear handball because I love football, there is a reading that the rule is stupid. The handball was accidental (arguable), so the fact that he didn't score becomes key.
I can't imagine he'll hold the rule as wrong, so my guess is he's throwing the ref under the bus for a technically plausible but clearly cobblers interpretation.
He still gets paid though and will be back next season peddling his bent views.
