I'm not saying it was accidental, but if the ref wanted to give the goal, FIFA and the FA have given him wiggle room to do so.

The laws are shit for football, the integrity of the game, and for real fans. They are, however, entirely fit for purpose.

Are the rules for hand ball also completely different for defenders and attackers? 90% of those given against defenders are accidental.

In the last few weeks I've seen Bayern concede a penalty when the ball bounced off Davies' thigh onto his hand. I've seen Bayern denied a penalty when an opponent blasted the ball into a team mates hand because apparently it's not handball when the kicker and the handler are wearing the same laundry.
And now today. Mbuemo - deliberately or not - pins the ball against himself with his arm. The VAR officials tell the ref it's handball. Ref says no.

I can't even take solace in cricket as the basket case club I support didn't bowl a single ball today despite perfect weather as overnight rain got under the covers.
I wonder if they'll get yet another points deduction for that.

I'm interested to hear Howard Webb try and talk his way out of this one as either the VAR officials are fucking hopeless or the ref is fucking hopeless.

    Those are his choices.

(they are all fucking hopeless but he won't say that).

The most annoying thing about today was that I really didn't care about the result. Until that decision. Now I'm annoyed.

I've just realised we can still catch Palace.

Which, for some reason, I think would be fucking hilarious.

But we probably won't now because Bournemouth, and Palace at Arsenal who are going to shit the bed. Still can't get too upset by it though, I'm afraid.

Just had time to catch up with the highlights, two delightful crosses from Anderson and that’s some finish from MGW. Chapeau.

Quick look at FoxesTalk and they are pretty much unanimous in their belief that awarding the goal was ridiculous.

    I think that's now an open-and-shut case.

nffc receive apology from PGMOL chief Howard Webb, who has accepted that referee Michael Salisbury was wrong in not ruling out Manchester United’s second goal for handball.

Howard Webb’s got brave since he stopped actually having to make decisions at Old Trafford.

They would have still tried to persuade you that up was down if they could get away with it. Weight of public opinion on this one has sawn their normal instinct towards gaslighting off at the knees.

I hope all the Man Ure fans who have spent their time since screaming variations on 'IT'S THE LAW! READ THE LAWS!' are ok.

    Not really.
