More indicative than Sunderland in some ways, although this might be our best chance at 3 points.

Newcastle have been pretty poor away and won't have anything to play for. I make that our best chance but football isn't as linear as that - we drew at home against arsenal and wolves.

It’s all vibe, of course, not stats. Ours is ok at the moment but is very fragile.

    Looking at our remaining games:
    1. Sunderland away: anything would be good.
    2. Chelsea: they’ve put the U21 manager in charge. Presume all the Billy Bigbolloxes who thought Rosenior was too small time, might have a similar feeling about this guy. Most are on thousand year contracts so can just sit it out. They are not getting Champs League so don’t really care. Possible point?
    3. Newcastle at home: by then, they have nothing to play for. Some players hoping to get to the WC and they know Howe is on his way out. Danger: Anderson plays like the ex girlfriend who wants to show you what you missed out on and overdoes it. Prob our best chance for 3
    4. Man U away. If they are safe in CL spot then maybe something? If we are getting desperate then it will be a tough watch
    5. Bournemouth at home. Please do NOT let it come down to this. Not needing a point. Not GD. Nothing.

We all know how this plays out.….

Bournemouth might need something from the final game for Europe qualification.

12 games since we beat Bournemouth. It's a hell of a run and has to end at some point.

I think we'll get a win and a draw somewhere and I think that'll be enough.

To state the obvious .... Europe makes our run-in much harder than it would otherwise be.

I think West Ham’s is hardest. Yes they’ve still got three home games but Arsenal are the best away team in the division and Everton are third best and both still have stuff to play for. Brentford and Newcastle are both decent at home. Could be down before they play Leeds (who haven’t lost in ages) on the last day.

Spurs’ (who, remember, are giving us a five point start) will look much harder if they don’t beat Wolves (on a decent run at home but haven’t played there for six weeks).

    More game = Harder.

Particularly when the next challenge is against top 'ship opposition, and we know that our second string are too much of a drop off.

...but. We definitely have some proper 'leaders' and a genuine squad cohesion allied to application. I expect them to be more on it, than other squads that I could mention. I just hope they had enough of a training block to match the character with the required physical output.

Don't forget that all our opponents will suddenly have to alter their training to deal with our new and potent 4-4-2...

This feels like a 1-1 draw with Wood scoring from a Hutchinson near post cross.

Howe, Carrick, Le Bris and Iraola will be frantically Whatsapping each other, brows furrowed over a magnetic tactics board.
Calum McFarlane has not yet been added to the group.
