We’ve built a squad to play 4-2-3-1, two players for every position, including four wingers, no wing-backs.
So appointed a manager to play a completely different style and signed just two players (and an unnecessary third choice keeper). A midfielder on a free who is no better than our current back up midfield and a defender who will hopefully come good but looked way, way off the pace tonight.
It will take time. Whether our twit of an owner will give the manager that time is a whole different conversation

We are absolute wank in this formation. Glasner needs to show some flexibility. Vitor did and it paid off. We honestly don't look like scoring. Aina and Williams must hate this formation. There just wasn’t anyone in that starting lineup who could create space by beating a man (Kalimuendo did a couple of times) or playing a clever pass (Diomande’s ball for Wood, aside). So when we had the ball it was just nothing until we gave it away and left our defence exposed. Could have been three down by half time and wouldn’t have had much cause for complaint.

Not sure what Schlager is supposed to be. Slow in possession, 90% of his passes were back to a defender, didn’t win the ball that I saw. Just seems like a worse version of Sangare when he had malaria.

Hopefully playing Liverpool will suit us better - can sit deep in a 541 and (hopefully) break quickly. But if, as seems likely, we lose heavily, impossible to imagine we’ll only sign the two more players Glasner is talking about - he’ll get another three on deadline day, if he likes it or not.

It worries me a bit that he thinks he only needs two more players.

We have three wingers in the squad for a system that plays without wingers.

The players rebelled against Dyche (don't get me wrong getting rid of him was the right thing) and got their way. Do they want to learn from OG or will they just turn against him?

I guess the flip side is 4-4-2 only just got us to survive last year so it's not like that worked great.

I'm not sure anyone at Forest does patience, least of all the fans. Lots of grumbling around me last night. Glasner needs a result soon, but Leeds was the best chance to get one for a while.

I'm not too concerned about this - Ndoye, Hutchinson and CHO are all capable of doing the job that Sarr and Pino were doing for Palace last season. Differently to those two but it's not a big jump - none of them are wingers who stay wide and ping crosses in. It seems like overkill to have them + Kalimuendo and Jesus competing for one shirt when Gibbs-White is fit but that's a different issue.

Problem is that Marinakis has created an environment where the solution to any downturn is to sack the manager and the players will pick up that - "this isn't working, let's see what the next guy does to change it".

There's an argument that Leeds are in a better place than Liverpool, Spurs and Villa just now.

I think there's an argument for saying it might be a decent time to play all three. It's just that it might be preferable not to be facing two of the 'Big Six' and a Champions League club in the next three.

I'm sure it will be fine but you can see a scenario where we've got one, or even no, points from the first four games and out of the cup competition. Then it's whether the big man holds his nerve.

But your point still has some merit.

I was quite shocked at how poor Schlager was. Pre season, i know, he looked like he could read the game and snap into a player before they could settle, often enough win the ball and play a progressive pass to one of our players. Instead he was an hour behind the game looking bewildered.
Im only being slightly facetious when I say that we needed McAtee on the pitch, if only so we could pass to one of our forwards occasionally.
On the positive side, I liked what I saw from Kalimuemdo. Aggressive running and a willingness to play the right pass. Even though Wood tripped over his zimmer frame trying to get to it.

Are we still thinking Wood is good for 8-10 goals?

Guess he may still not be fit/sharp post injury.
