I think it is them actually?

    News article has written:

The knowns are narrow. The claim was filed on Monday 10 August, naming CPFC Limited and “Persons Unknown” as defendants, and pleads defamation. The Particulars of Claim are not yet public, so we do not know the meanings pleaded, the quantum sought, or, most importantly, precisely how Marinakis intends to fix the club, rather than the individuals who made and displayed the banner, with legal responsibility for it.

Two things about the filing are worth pausing on. First, the timing. Defamation claims in England carry a one-year limitation period. The banner was displayed on 24 August 2025; the claim landed on 10 August 2026, a fortnight before the door closed. Last-minute filings usually mean one of two things: a pre-action negotiation that failed, or a protective claim to keep the option alive. Neither reading suggests this was done in haste. Marinakis had a full year to let it go, and didn’t.

Second, the “Persons Unknown” defendants. This is standard machinery for suing people you haven’t yet identified, and it is usually followed by applications to compel third parties to identify them. In this case, the obvious third party holding CCTV footage, ticketing data and stewarding records is Crystal Palace itself. Think about what that means: the club could find itself under a court order to hand over the identities of its own supporters to the owner they blame for their European demotion. If that application comes, it will detonate across every supporter group in England.

Maybe I just took that to be trying to cause Palace (and Parish) a load of hassle rather than wanting to pursue them personally.

Yes same. Marinakis doesn't give a shit about a few fans, he's smart enough to know that the supply of opposing fans is limitless. I have no doubt that he's pissed at Palace and specifically Parish for painting him as the reason they got kicked out of the UEL and deflecting from the fact that it was their own ineptitude; there's also an angle that it was actually Textor who was the reason Palace broke the MCO rules, and we know that Textor and Marinakis are tight.

I am very sure this is everything to do with Marinakis wanting to embarrass and / or damage Parish, and nothing to do with the fans who actually held the banner.

Maybe. I think our beloved leader may want to make an example of them.

Risk with that is that disclosure on his side means something he'd rather not be public moves into the public sphere. Although the case with the Aris guy (if that gets that far), has the same risk, Woody Johnson (the majority owner of Palace) is probably richer than Karipidis so can probably afford to push harder, if he really wants to.

Whatever, it's all nonsense. If you don't want to be subject to some low grade baiting don't buy a football club.

Woody Johnson isn't going to get involved in a big legal battle with a powerful and rich owner with all manner of connections in football, especially this early in his tenure. I suspect it's far more likely Palace settle and throw Parish under the bus (and it's largely his fault anyway, given he tried to use Marinakis as the scapegoat for his own ineptitude).

He was being accused of criminal activities. If I held up a banner next time we play Palace saying Steve Parish is a paedophile, I'd expect to be facing charges and, probably, a life ban from the City Ground. However funny I thought I'd been about it.

Having put Mrs Rave through our friendly tonight (laptop hooked up to the TV) I reassured her that Forest would not be on TV anywhere near as much this season without European football, I then looked at the fixture list to double check and spotted that the Poo away game is now slated for a 12.30 kick off and is going to be on TNT. When did they announce that? Totally missed it. 1st time since coming back up that our trip to A Field will be on TV...

I had spotted that announcement. Not least because it was originally going to be on Wednesday - Mrs Rave's yoga night.
    Oh well.

£17 for my seat for the Leeds Carabou game seems reasonable.

This on the away points distribution may be of some interest, if people haven't seen it?

Are the supporter numbers only those in the away scheme? Whatever it's called now, I lose track.

Must be, if it runs to a total of 6,655.
