Yeah, I'm sure there'll be some complaints but if you are suffering last minute transport or similar issues 5/6 times a season, then you have bigger problems, presumably covered by the serious illness or other life events exemptions.

The email is ambiguous though. By my reading, they are saying that the seat has to be "utilised" 14 times but also that your eligibility will be reviewed if you don't "utilise" it for 5 games. Maybe they think there are 18 home games?

Also are they guaranteeing the exchange will be open for every game? Previously it only opened once the game was sold out.... (theoretically, I'm not sure they actually stuck to that).

There is also a loophole, of sorts, that if you forward it onto a member and they don't attend, that still counts as utilised. So if I can't attend and can't (for some reason) list it, I can forward it to a mate and it still counts towards my 14.

I was curious so exchanged emails with Billy the Chatbot (who continued to be the most sophisticated I have ever come across...)

The 5 game review would be a check to see what's going on as you are close to be tipping point, intent is very much to help people not breach the rules etc.

And resale was available for all games last season and starts midday the Friday after tickets have gone on sale earlier in the week.

Billy is active on the twitter post about the change.

I really don’t see how anyone can argue against it. Just make your ticket available for sale if you can’t go and that’s that. And you can even not bother doing this a few times.

I assume the objection is "but I don't wanna"?

Someone was whining. It wasn’t in the T and C. Billy has posted a screenshot saying it was.

You also get money if you list it and its taken so can't really see a negative.

Personally if you list it more than X times I think you should be somehow warned that you might not be allowed to renew next season.

That one made me laugh. I'm sure they'll refund you your season ticket if that bothered!

Beside the point anyway. It's not changing anything about your enjoyment of the season ticket you've already bought, just your ability to buy another one in the future.

Not sure they will be bothered?

Someone who lists their ticket for sale 10 times a year is a better money earner for the club than someone who doesn’t.

Also suspect the ‘casual’ fan has a higher match day spend than a ‘well prepeared’ ST holder. (Unless it’s an Ingo Madri day).

In terms of money to the club, I agree. I was coming at it more from the perspective of the fan.

If I'm the club looking to expand the capacity by 50% in the next few years, I'm not sure driving away people prepared to invest in a season's worth of tickets in April is a sound business move.

Premier league football is currently the only business I can think of that doesn't appear to want long term, locked in income from loyal customers.

I’m not convinced asking someone to make their seat available, on the 4th time they can’t use it out of 19, is driving anyone away.

The current rule is fine - I’m very supportive of it. I was talking about Shady taking season tickets off people who don’t attend, even if they list it.
