AoNZ lost 4-0 to the international powerhouses of Haiti. But 3 of the goals were scored after Bindon was rested, so there's that.
We aren't going to score because we can't get Wood the ball.

We aren't going to score because we can't get Wood the ball.
Even then Chris Wood wasn't on his best form post injury.
No, but against Egypt and Iran he might do better. If we could get him the ball.
Probably not Belgium though.
Stamenic again showing that we shouldn't have signed him. Nice bloke though.
Bindon sadly on bench.
Wouldn't this be a great time to have played not-Kane?
Second half, different XI apparently.
Watkins at right wing seems a waste regardless. Half with him and half with Toney against a Champo defence at best to get them practice and rest Kane's knees.
To me, but whatever.
Got to let Harry do a bit of stat padding though.
Haven't been able to watch the second half. The nil isn't a surprise but only 1 is.
Lucky for England we don’t have to play Haiti.
I didn't watch second half.
Once the Arsenal guys are included watch those cornets fly in.
Yeah, that pesky band…
They are always at the pokie van.
I see the us have denied a visa to the Iranian manager. When are they going to stop giving tournaments to these rogue nations?
Thought it was interesting, comparing with Toney. Quite a lot was made of him missing the chance where he was offside (IT), not a lot made of the fact that with Kane you don't ever score those sort of goals (movement of a nine, versus a false nine). As well as making it so much harder to play through teams in central areas. It does make it easier for strong runs behind to get in at the corners, but it also means someone else needs to make the first phase ruins to get in the cross, given that the striker is heading the wrong way and has to (oil tanker).
Ambrose (I think) on talksport kept trying to describe Kane's movement without saying "arriving late", which he ended up saying almost every time. It was quite funny listening to him constantly tripping up over something he was trying to avoid saying. The fact is that Kane is a brilliant finisher who arrives late. Like a midfielder should, except without the workrate. So the other nine each need to take on 1/10th of his work. Which is why he can play so many minutes when his legs are dead. And we can't win. Because it's too much of a handicap against the best teams.
Psycho was on about how Anderson was seeing a lot of the ball, but not breaking the lines often enough. It occurred to me, that was exactly the sort of game where I'd like to see MGW at six. The sort of game an expanded world cup might have a few of.
Similarly TAA must have been fuming, as was I, that he wasn't there to provide instantaneous early balls behind.
Not that Gordon looked like he could get on the end of a conga never mind an early pass.
You don't learn a lot from these games, but I learnt a lot. Looks like high energy in front of an unstretched low block, with runs behind, but no plan how to hit them other than Kane on the turn.
I expect that we will dominate games (given the numbers in the central areas of the porch), but struggle to break teams down. Set pieces might be important, but if we play Dan Burn to promote that, the negatives will outweigh the positives. So it will be individual moments, most likely, until the attritional heat gets us.
So Southgate all over again but Burn in for Maguire?
