The scale of the win, and the places they’ve won, mean it’s not about affordability. It’s about a large number of people being ‘done with all this shit’. Dems almost certainly win in 28 because the republicans are just not going to find a nominee who has profile and can show a distance from Trump. After that it probably just goes back to Average Republican Pieces Of Shit usually holding most of the power. So still bad, but not a full-blown cult.
Yeah, this will probably look foolish in two years, but it does feel like it's almost impossible for a republican to win the next presidency. They won't be able to win the primary without sticking close to Trump and they won't be able to win the election as a less charismatic facsimile of Trump, whether that's Rubio, Vance or Di Santis.
Assume odds on Ocasio-Cortez/Ossoff/Shapiro as the next president have plumeted.
The first two have dominated more recent suggestions.
The scale of the shift in Hispanic vote shows that affordability was barely relevant for some people.
Jan 6 was appalling, of course, but barely affected the day to day for anyone, so I suppose that made it easier to move on. ICE, data centres, corruption, vaccines, war, affordability, etc are all in everyone's faces all the time.
