Yes, I used to love the end of season goal montage videos.
That is what you were referring to, right?

What the fuck did we do before being able to pause / rewind TV?
I guess VCR it and and wear the tape to death rewinding over and over again.

I think this was true for …errr…certain things

    Hedgerow BINGO!

    Dave.

I can't be sure, and I'm not judging you, but, you recorded Blockbusters and Going for Gold, didn't you?

    Er, no.
I wasn't particularly interested in either program. Although I did once play cricket against Henry Kelly (our team studiously avoided any references to 'going for bowled').
I also once sat opposite Bob and Mrs Holness at a Press night party - one of the several Bill Kenwright parties I went to where the 'party' was basically queue up for some buffet, sit down and eat it and then fuck off. God they were dreadful parties. The then Mrs Rave and I only ended up opposite them because we spotted 2 empty seats. Bob was very polite and admitted that he had no idea why he and his wife had received press night invites.

As for VCRs - Dad came home with our first ever VCR in 1984 - the day that Forest beat Man U 3-2 from 0-2 down.
Yes, Match Of The Day was the first program we ever recorded. And yes, it got watched eleventy billion times.

And Metgod curls it...YES! 3-2, just into stoppage time. And Metgod goes on one of the longest laps of honour of the season...

Alan Brazil was the oldest 25 year old I've seen.
Poor old Alan Davidson (I had to look him up, as I only remember the name). Seizures after a head injury and he was done at 3 games. Never heard of Riley.

Signed from non league at the same time as Paul Raynor, I think? I put them together in my head anyway.

I saw Raynor playing for Cambridge occasionally in the Beck days, as I was living near Huntingdon and couldn't get to Nottingham.
That was a messy, fun, football side.

Alan Brazil looks dead now, so he's continued that physical advanced aging trend.

And anyway all 25 year old professional footballers looked qbout 40 in 1983. It's a known phenomena.

I particularly enjoyed the pronunciation of the 'Yoofa' Cup in that clip.

Back to this iteration of the World cup. We are interested in going to Atlanta to beat the Argy's but the tickets whilst not as expensive as Mexico City are criminal. I have an interest free credit card. it's tempting, but fuck FIFA and VARgentina.

If we go we lose. If we stay home I suspect we win until Infantino (who now wants a 64 team world cup...for fuccccccks sake), overturns the verdict for brand Messi.

Cheapest tickets are $2860 per person. Gulp.

    Chicago: Feeling insane.

If it wasn't for the fact I'm in Europe until Friday, I'd certainly be going at that ticket price. Stop messing about and just book it, how many times are you going to have the opportunity to watch a WC Semi Final in the US...
