If anyone who thinks that this lot, playing this game plan, centred around a striker who heads the wrong way, and has dead legs, are going to beat anyone decent, is an idiot.

    Harsh on Croatia

Absolutely. Can't understand why we would trust a striker who scores 60 goals in a season.

Can't understand why Stones didn’t play. Neither centre half can contribute going forward. The two starting wingers were dogdirt.

Absolutely needed the center backs to be progressive and they looked like they were hanging around and waiting for a cup of tea.

We need to hire Portugal's set piece coach. Ummm, and maybe their wingers too.

Apparently 78.8% is the highest share of possession of any team on record in a World Cup without scoring.

Whose legs are always dead in the summer, and has a long history of being a flat track bully because he's always in the wrong place for the first phase of play?

It's that first phase of play where you hurt good teams.

If you are expecting centre halves to be the major difference makers, progressively speaking, you are destined for life long disappointment.

What an elite manager like tricky would do @Psychobel is find a striker who can't score for fuck but runs around alot. We'd win the world cup!

I'd find a pattern of play and movement, that might make a possibility of beating a decent side. No promises. Yes, that might involve a forward that engages the back line, and not bring a midfield touch like mine into play, when there are better technical players (not taken), in that space.

It will be interesting to hear what @Jeff_Albertson thinks... Because the decision making looked quite Gareth like to me tonight.

Can we start with beating a shit side like Ghana and build from there.

Game reminded me why I stopped trekking up to Wembley for England games.

I feel like we got a bit lucky with Konsa hurling himself both feet first in the penalty area and taking a ton of man before he got incidental contact on the ball. Overall the ref let a lot of physical play go both ways, I thought he was pretty decent. Ghanaian fans might feel differently.

Based on how Panama are giving them a real game, no. Makes me a bit nervous for Saturday though.

We only need one more good half to beat Panama. As ever, we are struggling to beat a decent quality, organised team. And we didn't lose for a few reasons, including the attacker pulling his foot away when Pickford came in to smash him. Wasn't in the area, but it was really rash.
