Are we the first PL game on TNT, like we were on Sky?

    Are Arsenal out for revenge?

Can our away form get any worse?

Is tempting fate really a thing?

All these questions and more, answered this Saturday!

Reminds me to check if TNT do the same 1 month pass as BT used to do.

Starting to gear my thoughts to the start of the new season. My objectives for which centre around finishing it with the same manager again.

Yep. but I think it's highly unlikely.
Last year, we stayed up due to our home form, which was in doubt due to the support, carried over by a wave of positivity from Wembley promotion, with the excitement/novelty of being back in the big time, but little expectation. Then we beat West Ham and that support was just galvanised even further.

This season, however, there is more expectation. There's a palpable change of mood among the support due to the lack of signings and poor pre-season form and even some murmurings (albeit a v v small minority) of Cooper having taken us as far as he can.
The starting XI v Arsenal will be considerably weaker than the one which finished last season (No Navas, Lodi or Niakhate, while Taiwo and Felipe doubts).
Our run of away games to start the season is awful - more than a point from the first five will be a success, but that is just going to feed the media story of Forest's dreadful away form.
If we fail to beat Sheffield United, our next home game is not until September 18th. Everyone else will have played five games, we are likely to be near the bottom with one or two points by then..
40 times promoted teams have been relegated from the EPL after one season, 14 times after two.
I just fear the same fate which befell Sheffield United (who, like Sabri's Forest, fell apart with no crowds due to Covid) and without that incredible home support in the second season we could struggle.
My only crumbs of comfort are Luton and Sheffield United look in a much worse position (although Luton's support and Kenilworth Road will shock a few teams)
Wolves and West Ham are a mess and Bournemouth's manager is unproven in England (although Spanish managers have a decent record over here).

Is the palpable change in the mood of the support really a thing? I felt that at times in the run-in last season, online at least, but in the ground the support remained immense.

Weaker than the side which finished last season, but stronger than the side which started it. Getting anything out of Arsenal would be a big surprise.

I sincerely hope it does, and I think it will start well - excitement of the return of football.
But if we don't get a decent result against the blunts (who will be looking to just kick us off the park if Heckingbottom plays to form), I can see it being nervy and jumpy by the time Burnley rock up, especially if they've had a decent start.
We have a history of being fickle and the EPL novelty is going to wear off soon.

    No.

    Twitter is not the club.

    Home support is solid.

Well this is a wank biscuits thread. Ingo needs to show a little Maverick and really put it out there!

Sure, we look completely unready for anything approaching football right now but we have super Matt Turner who will play a blinder against his old team who will swarm over us but run into blind alleys due to our double double low low block. So low that you cannot go lower. The Arse fans will get frustrated and throw their lattes at Arteta who will then get annoyed and sell smith Rowe to us in a fit of petulance.

    We won’t score… hopefully Arsenal won’t either.

Chicago: Waiting for that Sonic boom!

Not quite yet, but Romano just gave Raya to Arsenal the HWG so I would presume Turner will be out of the door shortly.

Assume the team is the same as last week with Turner in goals. Unless Felipe, Niakhate or Awoniyi are available.

Everyone seems very sure Turner is going to be available for Saturday. Surely Arsenal are going to delay it until Friday afternoon.
