I thought we played better than West Ham. That’s not the same thing as playing well.

It was a low quality game where we had some short decent spells. That said, we were still much better than them and I thought we actually did deserve to win even if it felt like we needed the rub of the green to get us over the line. It definitely wasn't as bad as you might think if you just read this thread.
I had a couple of texts last night from neutrals who happened to watch the match and they thought we were comfortably superior to them.
Having said it was definitely a penalty, I think we were incredibly lucky with the disallowed goal. I don't know how they can conclude that Milenkovic didn't intentionally play the ball - he tackled their guy and it rebounded to the offside player, there clearly wasn't any intention by Summerville to pass wide.
Also, given that's a subjective call, shouldn't referee have been asked to look at it? I thought it was only matters of fact that VAR was supposed to overrule on.
Agree it was harsh on them, but fuck it. About time we got the rub of the green. The disallowed goal was the turning point. No way we come back from two down. God bless VAR, at least yesterday.
And we should have had a corner about a minute before.
This was the height of VAR stupidity. They reviewed it to check for possible handball by the defender. No, it hit his thigh on the way through. So….goal kick.
Agreed. If I'm reffing, I'm giving that as a goal.
The corner they scored from wasn't a corner again either right? That's Man U, Bournemouth and now West Ham we've conceded from non-corners. Add Dominguez getting booked for a dive and them scoring from that. There's others. I do think we have had some bad luck this season. More than normal.
We could try defending corners, so that the occasional wrong decision in giving one isn't catastrophic.
This. We've gone from looking rock-solid last season (wasn't it nearly 20 games in before we conceded from a set piece?) to looking an absolute fucking shambles this time around.
Every time we concede a corner or attacking free-kick at the moment I fear the worst.
There's no doubt that Anderson has been overplayed and is feeling the effects, but I think teams have also woken up to the fact that everything goes through him. It was noticeable how little space he had last night, West Ham clearly set out to stop him dictating the game.
I'd be trying to avoid playing alot of people against Wrexham to give them some rest. A team of something like:
Gunn
Savona
Morato
Abbott
Zinchenko
Bakwa
Luiz
McAtee
Ndoye
Kalimuendo
Taiwo
Think Kalimuendo to Frankfurt will be confirmed before Friday.
Jair Cunha has to play. Otherwise whats the point of having him in the squad. Also Zinchenko is injured again.

Add him to the list of players signed by Edu that the manager he also apparently chose doesn't want or rate. (Probably more Marinakis to be fair, given the Textor link.)
